Steering Column

Anybody know any tricks/tips for reinstalling the lower cover on the steering column? I removed it to install a CodeAlarm CA-670... it was easy to remove... take out one screw and pull, but I can't seem to coax it back in there.

Thanks for you help.

Thanks Kool Aid,

Which tabs did you cut off? All of them? So the only thing holding it in place is the one screw?

Here is what you MUST do to get it back on..... Start the truck and turn the steering wheel so it is upside down. Then try to reinstall it.... it is much much much easier put back on now.

Thanks,

It's a bitch but it will go back in without cutting.

Maybe tabs isn't the right word.

The two large pieces that are supposed to go back inside the wheel........I removed them.

The install went well... no real problems at all thanks to this forum, it's members and a little help from autoalarmpro.com. Did you buy from autoalarmpro.com? His instructions are pretty good and he is almost always available to answer questions.

I am still having an occasional problem with the remote start which I am sure could be fixed by running a tach wire, but it's so infrequent that I am going to live with it for a little while.

The one place that was a little confusing was the diode isolation of the door triggers... but once you see the diagram it's pretty straight forward. Let me know if you need that diagram and I'll dig it up for you.

There are a couple of threads you should read on this forum that will help get you prepared for the install... just search for ca-670 and you should find them.

Good luck and drop a line if you need any help... I'll do what I can.
