Donahoe Racing Front Coilvers

I wrote an emial to Donahoe Racing asking about replacement front coilovers for the 04-05 F150's. Here was thier response.

Stephen,

We actually, just yesterday in fact, received the coil
springs from Eibach that we have been waiting on to complete the first run
of our F-150 Coil-overs. These will be available starting today. These
shocks are good for 0-3" of lift and will give you about 1" or so more of
down travel. The valving and springs rates are matched perfectly so you will
definitely get a great ride whether you take you truck off-road or not.

Now the bad news. These things cost $1200... Seems cazy to me. But they look really nice.

I was so excited when i heard about them and i was determined to be one of the first to get them. I knew they would be pricey... But i dont think i am prepared to spend $1200. I guess ill still be looking into the rancho RS9000 Triple X shocks or the skyjacker 3" lift kit. There is always the possibilit that i get wreckless and just order these things!! I bet they are amazing!

I'm hopeing that DR will come up with a true 4.5" lift like they have for the superdutys. I'm sure it would be a pricey lift but they make great stuff so it would probably be worth it if you find yourself offroad alot.

Did they mention anything about a lift as opposed to just the coils?

I did ask.. but i didnt really get a response. I got the impression that they had it in the works. BUt, that it was going to be awhile.

They did say that they should have a rear shock and spring option to go with the front coilovers by the end of the year. This would make a lift kit that is very similar to the Skyjacker 3" lift. But it would probably cost about as much as the 6" kits that are available.

Here is the Email

The rear shocks will most likely be available the beginning of next year. We are trying to get all our systems put together with both front and rear options. So by the end of the year to the beginning of next year we will have a rear spring and shocks option available. Thanks.

Man I dont think they're going to get many takers on their coils at that price. Might as well get a level kit or just get the skyjacker and put the remaining 600 into other mods or save it for wheels/tires. Or maybe Camburg will get it together soon and beat them to the punch. It amazes me it's taken these guys this long to come up with a solution for the 04/05 f150's. Dont they want to make money? There's got to be something else going on behind the scenes we arent aware it just doesnt make any sense to me.
Oh well.....it's not like I have the money lined up yet anyways...

Yeah... They have a great reputation... But 1200 is excessive if you ask me. Im guessing that they are trying to pay for thier R&D and earn some extra casho off of they guys who have to have them first (might be me...). But, considering the cost, I might have to go with the Rancho kit or Skyjacker 3". If i knew for a fact that the DR coilovers would have a better ride on and off road I might pay the $600 premium for them. But otherwise they offer no benefit over the Skyjacker... Anyway... Ill let you know if i take the plunge.
