Outside temp 140 degrees???
Outside temp 140 degrees???
I just noticed the other day that my 2005 Lariat has the outside temp stuck at 140 degrees. I have tried disconnecting the battery but it still shows up. Anyone else have or seen this issue before I take it in?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Sometimes I've wondered about mine - it will get as high as 125 even though I know there's no way that can be true - if you find out what it is, please let me know since mine is no longer under warranty!

Hmmm...
I have a theory, instead of the cruise control wiring starting fires as in the previous generations of F-150s, the engineers decided to move the problem to the ambient air temperature sensor.
The reading you are seeing is the beginning of a fire!!!!
OK, maybe not

I want to say there may be an updated PCM calibration that fixes this, but it could be a faulty ambient temp sensor as well. Our '05 Expedition is bass-ackwards of your truck; every now and then, it'll read like -40 degrees F.
It might be either... I am going to pick up a new sensor today to see if that fixes things. Just yesterday, it started to work again. Then I washed the truck and back to --- it goes. Since last night, it works sometimes and sometimes it displays ---. Go figure!

I had to have my sending unit replaced, it was doing the opposite, always reading colder than it was outside.
Bring that beast (and car) up to Oregon, they'll love it up here.
