exhaust electronic cut out

well as of right now im sitting here at the house in anticipation of the ups man, or woman, hopefully she will be hot, for them to bring my electronic cut out that i purchased about a week ago. i got it from quicktime performance, it has an electric switch that you mount in your truck, flip the switch and whalla, straight from the headers and LOUD!! flip it again, and it goes back to bone stock exhaust. i will give you guys an update of how it sounds, any performance gains, etc.. once it is put on. quicktime perfomance says a horsepower increase of at least 15 to the rear wheels and more torque at the low end so we will see.

haha i just cant waite till some ricer pulls up next to me and revs there engine, o man, to see the look on his face when i open that thing up .

by the way, the ford tech said if it is close enough to the headers, which it will be, when i get on it, at night time flames will be comin out of it. cant waite

How much was it?

I might get one and just put a magnaflow muffler on and tip on my stock system plus this before the cats! That way I can drive around with a nice sound but whenever one of my friends revs up their truck, it'll be onto wasting gas!!

Send them back as soon as you get them. Then order them through DMH. I had the QT cutouts and they will fall apart and/or not seal in about 2-3 months. Every one I know that has had them has had the same problem. I have had the DMH (4 year warrenty) for about 6 months now and absolutely no probs. Remember this post in 3 months and I hate to say i told you so.

Dang, those are nice. If they weren't totally unlawful in Califonia I would jump on those.

first off, they are illegal i think wherever you go, i guess they are for off road use only.

i was going to get the DMH one but my friend just got that one about 1.5 months ago and it allready failed, the butterfly valve is allready left open and wont close . so i decided to go with this one, they look about the exact same, use the exact same motor that is geared low and are made out of the same components except for some screws, wires are all the same etc...so i think its just a matter of upkeep, keeping the valve clean, and not over stressing the mottor in order to keep it working properly. As for sound, hehehehe, i cant waite

It would depend what you want to do, but we do have the 2.5in piping so...

# Single 2-1/4", 2-3/8", or 2-1/2" MPP for Cutout or Downpipe - $110+ s/h
You will also need a simple cutout that will be welded into the system as well, i would suggest either mounting them right before the muffler or getting o2 sims and before the last set of cats. The best use would be at high RPM for our trucks or for the occasional sound as you will loose back pressure and wont have that "off the line".

bofer...Don't you have a king ranch?

My eyes would pop out of my head if I heard a kr revving like that with cut outs. I picture king ranch trucks being all civilized and quiet.

I was looking at those some time ago, but they look small compared to these links you posted. As for the mccordcg.com (mpp) cutouts, which one is used for stock applications and what is the cost.

Also, where do you find switches, I've looked everywhere. This is the best link I've found, but I'm looking for stock OEM Lariat F150 switches, and has anyone seen any unique switch setups in f150's? I'd love to see what some people have came up with and where they decided to put them.

I've got the QTP electric cutouts on my truck. had them for well over a year now, going on 2 years and not one single problem.

the switch is momentary, meaning while you hold it the motor in the cutout runs. so if you just tap it, it'll just crack the cutout open. if you hold it for 6-8 seconds it will fully open the cutout. if you old it open for 30 seconds and dont let go, you will damage the motor and wear it out and over torque it causing it not to close again properly. that will happen with any elecric cutout. if used properly they should all hold up fine.

i use mine ALL the time and in almost 2 years its still working great.

as for location? best off putting them after the cats. otherwise you will need a tune to eliminate the rear O2 sensors and you'll have to squeeze them in after the front O2 sensors (cant eliminate the front ones) because if you bypass any of the sensors the truck will run like crap. might sound slightly louder, but not worth a very very slight difference if it runs like total crap and check engine lights come on, etc.

i'd definately install some high flow SS magnaflow cats while you are installing the cutout. the cats will gain you some top end, and make the truck sound really nice with the cutout closed, and SCREAM with it open. troyerperformance.com has polished SS magnaflow high flow cats for 80 a pop. cant beat that deal!!

i'll post up my dyno sheets later, but with the cutout open my truck always runs 2 tenths faster in the 1/4 every single time. it feels slower off the line, but pulls all the way through and nets 2 tenths every pass with it open. on the dyno it pulled 5 hp and 5 tq extra all the way through the power band with it open vs closed. so it definately does help performance and sounds KILLER!

and this is with the stock 4 cats cut out, and 2 high flow cats in their place, and all 4 oxygen sensors still in place and functional, and the cutouts after the cats. and i cant imagine my truck any louder with how its setup. its louder than lightnings with long tubes and full exhaust, no kidding there! at the dyno day people were covering their ears it was so loud

i'll try to get a sound clip...maybe tomorrow if i wake up early enough lol

*edit* o yeah, the QTP cutout comes with a switch. its a LED tipped switch. LED lights up yellow when the ignition is on, lights up red when you are closing the cutout, and green when you are opening the cutout. pretty pimpin!
