Truck Tool Box for '04 F-150
I should try my Line-X dealer to see if he sells them. When I got my liner, he said he was going to start selling accessories.
So is the consensus single lid box over gull box? I just felt that the gull box opened and closed a lot easier. But didn't give you the option for putting a really long object in there if needed (depending on overall size). And the handles are in a more accessible location.
And push button over handle. I wouldn't have thought that before reading this.

I have a flareside and can still use mine though i do have to crawl in the back of the bed.
I'm not sure what your going to use it for but when i worked for my father in highschool i had the split lid and hated it. it leaked and anything longer than a wrench was hard to get in and out ( baseball bat for example) you also had two locks - one for each side. My current box ( single lid) does not leak, only has one lock, and my golf clubs fit comfortably in it. I have also been told that the single lid is more secure than the split though that may depend on the manufacturer
Leaked? I don't like the sound of that. I'd just keep everything in the exposed bed if I wanted it to get wet. And I would like to have the option to put my golf clubs in there if needed. Maybe I have to start thinking single lid again. I just didn't like the lack of smoothness when closing the single lid from the side.
For those of you Super Crew owners, has the reduction in bed space become an issue. I find myself hesitating for the three times a year I may use the whole bed.
sspangl,
Can you post a Home Depot or Lowe's link of the exact kind of j bolts you are referring to?
As of right now, my tool box preference has shifted to the Husky, black, low-profile, single-lid. Though I didn't see it with push buttons instead of handles.

as for the bolt. i got mine from ace hardware. think of a bolt in the shape of the letter "j" the top if the j is threaded. you hook the bottom under the lip of the bed rail and then bolt it through the hole in your box. did a search but no luck.
Forget about the j-bolts; get the “no-drill “Grip Rite” installation kit” at Lowe’s. It’s a solid mounting system worth the money and makes the box easily removable in minutes if need be while retaining the exact mounting location for a quick reinstall.
Hmmmm...so I suppose if I know I need to use the whole bed, I can remove the tool box and leave it home. Is it heavy? Or I should ask, is it a one man job to remove it when empty?
I hear people talkin about UWS and Kobalt and Husky. Does anyone think any toolboxes are much better built than any other? Also are there any brands that arent worth even looking at? Thanks in advance for your help.
