AF1...guys satisfied after this long?

Well ive done my research and used my share of the "search" button on this website but lately i havnt seen anyone bragging up the AF1 intake. For guys that have had it put on and ran a few thousand of miles, what do you think of it now? Is it worth the cost? Can you notice it anymore now that you did when it was first put on? Ive been hesitant due to the negative feedback on this site beings im **** about touching anything on my engine that could void the warrenty or cause potential problems. Any latest feedback would be nice because i know there are a few other guys that would like to hear about this as well beings it hasnt been talked about in a while.

Had my Airforce One installed since 5-11-05 and everything is still good. It runs quiet until you jump on it, then it roars real nice & sounds great in combination with my Magnaflow. I never set a CEL either; my build date was 9-03.

If you enjoy your quiet ride don't get it. It's not worth the performance. My 1714 and exhaust made a good impact, but the added CAI really didn't amount to much more. I did gain an extra 10db of noise at WOT though. Now I gotta try soundproofing the heat shield, hood, and maybe even tube to shut this thing up. Engine bay noise completely drowns out the sweet exhuast note from the magnaflow. Moving the filter around on the tube doesn't do much at all, it's still hideous. Once you spool up over 4k rpm or so it sounds kinda cool, but getting there is just plain annoying.

If you really want a few extra ponies and love noise, go get it. Otherwise just get a K&N drop in and call it a day.

I'm really hoping the soundproofing will help out big time. Should hopefully order it up tomorrow. Who knows what the 'new tube' really is... prolly a 4th or 5th design out there...

I've tried both tube designs and they are both too loud for me. The tube with the sharper bend was quieter on my truck than the one you have JP. I took the AF1 off and put the DWV intake back on. It is quiet and still gives a performance increase. The AF1 is sold. Dzervit you really should try the DWV intake.

I get absolutely NO noise from my AF1 unless under heavy load, or WOT. At normal cruising speeds there is nothing....Wonder why??

I can’t figure it out either. Mine is unnoticeable until I get on it pretty hard, then it whales, but that’s what I want when I’m mashing the gas. Obviously, some are very unhappy with the AF1, to the point of removing it and putting it up for sale in the classifieds.

Why some are quiet and some are noisy may never be fully understood; it could be that some trucks have different acoustics. Just look at the vibration problem some trucks had. They would have every part imaginable changed out and still couldn’t solve the problem.

I’m completely satisfied with the performance; a huge seat of the pants gain IMO and I’m very content with the sound level at different rpm’s; not loud at all IMO

It also makes me wonder if people's tollerance for the noise is different. I dunno... we all started out with that nice Lexus-quiet cab and have the same/similar mods... how you guys cannot find the intake loud is beyond me though! It starts at 2k, by 3k I want ear plugs, 4k is tollerable for a second, and 5k sounds kinda sweet. And that massive moan when your first give it some throttle, good lord! And not even under WOT, just a nice little punch to get you some speed... it's crazy.

I have that same thing dzervit but and agree it can be a little anoying. I believe I have tamed it a little with some mods I did. but I have also learned to stay out of the gas so hard to avoid it. it seems to work and also helps my gas milage. and it only seems to do it if it is warm out like 80 F. or warmer. in the morning when it is cold out I can not even get it to get noisy which is good cuz now that summer is over I probably won't here it much for the next 9 months or so.

Well, I just ordered up some QuietCoat sound deadening goo. Gonna coat the hood, heat shield, fender area by filter, and anything else I can. If that isn't to my likeing I'll scuff and coat the tube itself and the firewall.

I have dynamat in the doors but am intreagued by this product and have to give it a whirl to see if it's all it's cracked up to be. Hopefully I can have my cake and eat it too.
