Oil Pan Plug Torque???

Anyone happen to know the torque for the oil plug on a 2005 5.4 3V??? My owners manual doesn't say. Also, anyone know a good place to buy Ford manuals? I would like to pick up a complete set for my truck.

Thanks

I've been around vehicles my entire life... That said, my truck a 2005 Lariat, has the absolute most idiotic location for an oil filter I've ever seen. This is the first time I changed my own oil since the dealer pissed me off something fierce on my last oil change. Imagine my surprise when I find that the oil filter is next to impossible to change without making a total mess. The as$holes actually built in a spillway for the mess they knew you would make when changing the oil. Instead of mounting it straight up n down its mounted at a slight angle right under a pulley. What the ***** where they thinking??? Why the idiots just couldn't mount it near the drain plug is beyond me. My dad's 2004 F250 5.4 has the filter near the plug. Sh$tty engineering just irritates the ***** out of me.

I switched to Mobil 1 5W-20. Mike Troyer recommends M1 over Castrol so I'll see if its any good. I hope its as good as advertised, it costs double what the syn-blend sh$t costs.

yeah man that thing is a pain, its a lot easier to do from underneath the truck, if I was taller or had longer arms id probably be able to do it from up top the truck under the hood but luckily i have a lift available to me so its not a big deal, shouldnt really be anyways if one is gonna get under the truck to drain the oil anyways just get back under there to get the filter.

I'm getting a remote oil filter kit after changing the oil myslef for the first time. Any suggestions to where I should mount this thing??? I've never run a remote filter before but unless I get e-fans, this will be a MAJOR pain in the as$ every time I change my oil.

A friend of mine is a USAF vehicle mechanic. He recommends that I runs full synth oil. He also said that instead of doing a full oil change every 5000, change the filter and approx 1 qt of oil every 5000. He said the primary benifit to full synth is extended change intervals. Any comments on this???

Thanks

Why not spend the extra few dollars and replace all the fluid while you are there? Some people are cheap i guess

your welcome on the torque specs...

I dont have a problem with the oil filter location, or making a big mess.
Not flaming you at all, just like to agree to disagree.
I think its great that I dont have to jack up the truck to get at it.

I wonder what the price of a quart of motorcraft 5w20 will be after the price of crude oil catches up.
