Unhappy Well the damage estimates are in

Just got the estimate from the collision center for the repairs from my accident.

It's going to be just under $8,000 to repair. Turns out that both front frame rails are bent and beign replaced along with a bunch of other crap. They said it would take 15 days to repair once they have all the parts.

I sure hope she drives and looks the same when I get it back.

Ouch...frame rails are bent? Doesn't sound like an easy fix.

You'll be good as new in no time.

I'll bet on a supplement of at least $1000 when they get the front end tore apart.

According to the guy at the collision center, when Ford made their new frame desing, they built them so that the front frame rails could be removed and replaced without having to swap out the whole frame. This particular shop does alot of frame replacements so they at least should be pretty good at it. They are an Allstate certified repair facility so if I'm not happy, Allstate will fight it out with the collision center instead of me having to do it. Now I just have to wait and see.

Perhaps it's the front most frame rail extensions that are bent? If you look under the truck it looks like those are made to take the collision forces and can be replaced......hopefully the main frame rails are still OK -

Sorry about your truck - same color/grille combo as mine - made me run out to the driveway and make sure mine was OK

By the way - what wheels and size are those? They look like Rousch wheels - I like that look.

PS If you haven't been through this before - your nightmare is about to begin. My 2000 Mustang GT vert was wrecked by an idiot flying out of a parking lot in a rusty 81 toyota with no insurance, drivers license or citizenship....(don't get me started) but the amount of effort I had to put in to be sure the GT was reparied properly was incredible. I took it to a very reputable body shop (they do very good work) but their project management and customer service skills were horrible.....it took 7 weeks to repair the car with it sitting around waiting on communication between the local Ford dealer and the bodyshop most of that time. After about 2 weeks I started dropping by the bodyshop every other day and they finally began paying attention just to get rid of me.....once when I stopped to check progress they told me the car was at the local Ford dealer and had been there for over a week for a one day repair...of course they had not bothered to call the dealer and find out what the hold up was - so I went to the dealer only to find my GT sitting (with the windows down) in a dirt lot unrepaired.....I was furious and the dealer claimed that the repair order did not include a replacement air bag sensor module (the bags had not deployed in the accident, but the airbag memory module was full and needed replacing??) and they couldn't complete the repairs until they had further authorization from the body shop....however the dealer had not bothered to call the bodyshop - so my ride was left sitting in a corner......and at the time I didn't have rental car insurance - so I'm driving a Chevy Metro (beer can on wheels) and it's costing me 35.00/day for their incompetence.......I hope I never have to go through that mess again......was 3 months before everything was finally right with the car! Another thing to watch out for is the bodyshop had included several "remanufactured" parts in my orig repair estimate that I noticed and questioned....the GT was only 9 months old - but I had 16K miles on it (long commute) so they said that due to the mileage - it did not qualify for new parts...I called my insurance company and put at stop to that nonsense right away - I didn't want a remanufactured rack and pinion unit on my 9 month old GT.....anyway the moral is get involved or you may not be happy with the results!! Good Luck and post pics when it's repaired!!

Just FYI: If they are an Allstate DRP shop, then they have prenegotiated rates with Allstate (usually much lower than the shop's normal rates). Allstate is also one of the cheapest insurance providers, they lower their costs by allowing certain parts to be replaced with aftermarket or rebuilt parts instead of new OE parts...which is why I choose not to use them. But then again, they do offer some of the lowest premuims...

I'm not sure about the low premiums, we check every year, a list of ten companies. They are near the highest every year. Lowest are companies like Amica and Mercury, even Gecko (joke) beats them by a lot.Heck, if you are a safe driver, State Farm and Farmers beat them.
Amica rates the highest on claim satisfaction, and Allstate near the bottom.

This seems surprising to me. I've never had an issue with a claim with Allstate and I've been with them for about 18 years now. My truck is only 2 1/2 months old, and I was guaranteed that they would use only Ford OEM parts with the exception of the grill because that was a Roush piece.

They are the Roush 20" wheels and tires that come on the Californial Limited Edition trucks.

Why 15 days to fix when the parts are in it shouldn't take more than a couple days to fix.

At least Allstate is now only near the bottom. They were dead last for many years. Based on their ads, they do have a good imagination.
