Wheel & tires question of a different sort

Hey wheel and tire experts. I have a question of a different sort. I talked yesterday to a young lady who had a set of 35x12.5r18 Toyo MTs on MKW wheels. She said with her 2" leveling kit she has no rubbing problems. My question is if I put on a set of 20s with the same offset/backspacing as her 18s will I get the same result or will the difference in wheel widths cause me problems? BTW, I would be using the same tires.

If the wheel width and backspacing is the same, you will be good to go. The diamenter of the wheel has no affect. In other words if the wheel width and backspacing is the same a 35.12.50-17 will fit just like a 35x12.50-22.

I know the wheel width is going to be different. I believe we are talking a 18x8 versus 20x9. If the 1 inch makes a difference do I need to compensate with the backspacing? If so how much?

Thanks

This is exactly what i have been trying to figure out! I believe that if you reduce backspacing you will cause the tires to rub on the bumper...

Long story short... i think it is impossible to run 35's with a level kit on anything wider than a 8" rim... I have no hard evidence... but, that is what i have gathered. so, if, like me, you want to run 20's you can only run a 33" tire. Luckily Toyo just came out with the 33x12.50x20 M/T which is what im planning on. Then maybe later I will get a 4" lift and run 35's on the 20" rims. I havent seen a picture of the Toyo M/T in the 33x12.50x20... But here is a picture of an 04 with 20" wheels and 33" Super Swamper Irok's Just so you get the idea. I think it looks awesome... But, definately keep us updated if you decide to try the 35's
