That might be my fault. If you will read the previous thread on this guy, I sent him an email asking if he might have a bright red tailgate. Looks like he got one.

The good part about this thread is that it might inspire us to secure our tailgates either by locking them or doing the mod with zip ties or hose clamps.

If somebody has the time to call and report this to the Grandview city police. I don't know what they could do, but if they have a report of a stolen tailgate???

Grandview is about 20 minutes down I-35 from where I live. But, what makes you think it is stolen? There are salvage yards around Grandview . Plus people around here remove their tailgate to run a gooseneck or 5th wheel. Just curious.

Has anyone emailed to find out where he gets the tailgates? Maybe he has a connection or works for a junk yard. He may have a company that installs lift gates. Yes, our tailgates are easy to steal, but whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty???

He was selling another tailgate and some stereo equipment. Just suspicious I guess. Ebay is an easy way to get rid of stolen goods. Of course, it does leave a trail if someone knew what to look for.

And that trail is why almost no stolen goods cross ebay. There are hundreds of wrecking yards selling on e-bay. I set up a computer system, networked, seven nodes, for a local chain of yards last year. They were selling on line with websites, but lately have moved almost all their 'action' to e-bay and a couple other auction sites. They get better prices by selling to the world, rather than the local county.
Chris

I just checked out this guy, Wrecking yard. Sells motors, etc. with serial numbers.

I was thinking it was stolen, because the gist of the thread was "he's at it again". I didn't know it was just tailgates on EBAY. I buy parts from EBAY all the time, and I'm reasonably sure they are not stolen.

I wouldnt doubt its stolen personally. NO reserve? Yeah.. How many junk yards have you went to and asked for a part and they say.. "how much do you want to pay?"

Some of his related sales last week were car radios and amplifiers....pfft... He's legit. LOL
