....and most expensive! I don't really have the sponsors to back up my 800+ purchase of a CF driveshaft. So for the rest of us, we'll just have to live with the vibe. Or not, I have a buddy with Sierra Z71 lifted 6", he did not replace the driveshaft and has no vibe. I'm wondering if the shop he went too didn't know about the price tag on a new CF driveshaft---or how to sell one...

The whine isn't horrible, but enough to tick me off when I have other people in the car and the stereo is low or off. My biggest fear is that the 4.10 and 4.56s that Ford Racing has on their website will not be FORD gears. Very few people know, but the 4.30+ gears that Ford Racing sells for the 8.8 are NOT made by Ford, they are actually Richmond gears, and they will make more noise than an OE ford gear. Ford Racing only sells OE ford gears that are repackaged, so if ford has no plans to offer a 4.10 or 4.56 factory gear, then the ones they are coming out with will probably not be actual OE ford cut gears. If this is the case, the 4.10 idea is going WAY out the window. The only problem is trying to find out if they will be OE gears or not. You really need an inside source with Ford to know for sure, or one of the guys at the Ford Racing tech line who will be honest about it.

You definetly DONT wanna live with the vibration....it will cost you money later....had a vibrating driveshaft on my old truck and it messed up the rear seal on the tranny like 3 or 4 times before i finally went and had it balanced.....the first time it costed me $2500 for a new transmission....and the next 2 or 3 times the place that fixed my tranny fixed the seal under warrenty....but the last time that it did it they finally determined it was the driveshaft and i havnt had any problems with any seals or leakin fluid again....least not until i rolled it lol

You dont really think ford makes any of their own gears do you?
Referring to these new 4.10 and 4.56 gears they are releasing for the 9.75, they could be MACHINED gears by Richmond just like the 4.30+ gears are for the 8.8. This defeats the purpose of waiting for or getting excited over these new gears since you can go get the same poor quality gear sets now.

I just assumed the shop did a good job of selling this guy for an $800 part. But after talking to my buddies about the issue, they informed me of some problems they had run into on their GMC's. However, they said the vibe was corrected after they had a "slip-yoke driveshaft" installed. They said the aluminum slip-yoke was plenty light enough for them. So, for the sake of being pithy: Anybody have any insight into this?
