Question Where to buy OEM overhead rail storage system?

Just got my third F series, oxford white, flint interior. Its decently equipped but would like to get the overhead rail storage system.

Other than ebay (which they dont have any), where can I find it?

Its an 05 XLT SCrew, doesnt have sunroof and barely 5 miles on the odo...

Thanks alot

Thanks, do these include the actual rails and mounting hardware, or is it just the bins?

A much more difficult task. I would check with Ford directly, get a part number(s) and then start your search from there.

Good luck with it.

I've done quite a bit of research on this and similar topics in the past. I've never seen the actual rails for sale. It seems like a lot of money for just a few small storage bins. But, that's just my opinion. There are several sellers of the bins. As for the rails, see if your dealership can pull up the part numbers and give you pricing. You should also email TORRIE at FordPartsNetwork.com to see if he can do anything for you.

On EBAY, copy-n-paste the following search:
+(f150,f-150) +(overhead,rail,bin,bins)
The final sell price (from what I've seen) for a single storage bin with nothing inside/extra is about $60 plus S&H. This has been about average for the auctions I've watched over the past year. I got lucky with my purchase ... a fluke.

Gordo is correct , bins only and I have never seen the rails for sale .... you should be able to find them eventially on E-bay. I think I found them for $75.00 about 6 months ago ...
They sell several different versions of the kits ... some with bins, lights and power outlets so make sure you re-search the Ford site before bidding on E-bay so you know what you are getting.

I have a blow up diagram of the over head setup. It has part numbers for every thing but the rails them selves.I have not been able to locate the rails and related mounting hardware and electrical connections. If any one wants the diagram email me and I will send it to you.And if any one finds the rails please let me know.

Question

Think Rambunctious might have the part numbers, etc? Maybe he'll stop by this thread.

I wouldn't be disappointed if my truck didn't have the overhead rail system. I have never kept anything in the bin . If I had the DVD player for it I might think more of the system but as just a storage compartment it seems kind of useless for me.

it would be quite a job to install the rails in a truck that didn't have them. you would have to pull the headliner out, cut holes in the liner because the clips that hold the rails attach from the back side then you have to put the whole thing back in and hope everything lines up. then there is the integration with the dome lights (front and rear). i am not sure if the dome lights are all the same because of the cutouts for the rails (there are no electrical connections to worry about). the only place you will probably find the rails is in the junk yard. you also might try the company that mfg's the rails, MIDEAST Aluminum located in North East PA. You can also try the company, JCI (Johnson Controls) which is the company that Rambunctious works for.
