First oil change?

This last oil change I went to M1 5w30 and the engine is much quieter at idle! I think I am going to go that route a while.
oil changes
FYI,
my company has over 1000 vehicles on the road. Most are driven hard for over 100,000 miles. We use to do oil changes at 3000 miles. Company did a test for about a year submiting oil samples at varias intervals for testing. Decided on 5000 mile oil changes for all vehicles and that using standard oil.
We have 97 Chev pickup in our shop with almost 140000 miles and it is still going strong. And that's with the guy driving having a real lead foot! Most of our vehicles are sold at auction and usually have problems other that engine before they are pulled off the line. Mostly transmission! Regardless of the make.
I use syn and change it at 5000 miles. But I haven't kept a vehicle for over 90000 miles in the last 15 years.
good luck.

It really helps tbird. Mine has Troyers x-cal tune in it now and he even recommends M1 10w30 for all his stuff. I read several threads from him saying such, I may even try that in this Texas heat.

I'm still on my 1st tank of gas since picking up my '05 XLT 5.4 supercab. The dealer recommended 5k oil change intervals assuming at least semi-syn. is used w/ motorcraft filters. The Service guy said 3k would be better, but I suspect he's trying to keep the service dept. nice and busy.
I'm glad I read this thread because I didn't even consider the possible need to do an early change due to break-in. They gave me a "free" (yeah right) 1st oil change voucher, so maybe I'll just pop in a bit early for that one.
