Also, the software update greatly improved my fuel economy. I use to struggle to get 17 mpg on the highway at 75 mph but now I can get 19 mpg at 75 mph. If I feather the pedal at 60 mph, it can get 22 mph.
Not to take away from your spotlight. I'm a new member myself. I just bought my 05 f150 fx4 ext cab. Could you elaborate a lil more on this subject. When you say sluggish is that on take off or a mash of the throttle at highway speeds? I found that on take off its almost if the engine steps thru the rpms rather then a smooth transition from no throttle to full throttle. Also the updated software...any rev numbers or tech notes, maybe a work order that you can get some numbers off? My dealer basically said there was nothing they could do. The dealer also said the truck may still be learing my driving habbits...currently the truck has 880 miles. Please any info that you can spew forth would be great.

Welcome Aboard. This is a good place to be if you own an F-150. These guys have never let me down.

Both. The sluggishness existed for both situations.

Agree. Most of the time the engine would try to escalate rpm in the gear it was in at the time the gas pedal was pressed. If you mash the gas pedal deeper, the truck would reluctantly downshift but only after a very noticable throttle lag.

There's a sticker under the hood. The mechanic that wrote it used some other language to write. To me, I can't decipher it but according to the copy of the work order:
1 10F0Z FUEL/DRIVEABILITY
DOES NOT HAVE ANY PICK UP AND GO
RECAL
NGS SLF TST DCL PINP REPROG UPDATE PCM CAL
PASS PASS PASS

Hope it helps.

I took mine in this morning to see about having the PCM reflashed. They said that my problems were probably due to the break-in period and said that if I still have them at 3000 for my first oil change they'll take care of it then. I had 750 miles on it this morning.

Good luck!

I just took mine in yesterday and they gave me no porblem. I told them i want my pcm reflashed and they asked me why i answered that my truck has really slow accelaration and that i knew there was an update available that could fix it. I also said freaking minivans pass me. The guy just laughed and said we will fix it for ya. Now, i hardly press on the gas and the wheels go into a mad spin. Before i had to step on it all the way just for a single tire chirp. (I was updated to 5L3A-12A650-CFB)

Howdy and welcome!

Backup lamps would be easy to add with a relay control. I'm currently doing a writeup on everything relays and that should help you when you add extra lighting.
