Well I just left dealer...It turned into a shouting match and I felt the urge to mangle the service guys neck so I left before it got out of hand.He told me that 170 miles to a tank is hi for a truck with 800 miles on it.And that the ping I hear is normal for cheap gas.Well I cant say the quality of gas but its 91 octane from a shell station that is about 2 years old and none of my other cars ping from the gas at this station.I may have to call ford.....

 

91 from shell should not ping on that truck. It's good gas AND it higher octane than required. How many gallons of gas did you use up for that many miles? My truck got several tanks of pretty low mileage. One I know was 8mpg. I haven't checked any recent ones. I just decided not to look until 3k miles when some friend's who have or have had the new f-150s said they improve a lot.

Those are some big things wrong with the truck for only 700 miles. Sounds like something happened to it... I know some dealerships are bad about abusing vehicles. I know one by me flipped some guy's rangers because a couple techs decided to do some donuts in the back parking lot...

The dealership I use has burnout marks outside of the service bays :o but they treat me well so far and give loaner trucks out when you bring yours in. Probably b/c I bought the truck from the floor manager and go talk to him evertime I'm in there.

 

I traded in a 2001 ranger edge with 11,000 miles that never needed any thing at all.I liked my past ford and got another.This thing is not so kind to me.I like the truck but its issues are starting pile up.The dealer is not much help they are the dealer that owns smarty jones the race horse.I cant belive they told me 7mpg was normal I just cant figure that out.I know you can have issues with any new car or truck so I am not mad or bashing ford it seems the dealer is the **** here.

 

I never ever got less than 10 MPG from day one. With 1100 miles, I'm at 15.5 right now, with a very mixed driving routine.
Man this has to suck, nothing worse than the stress of a messed up vehicle, especially when you can't even get a straight answer about what needs to be done.

Hey man that is a heavy load of ***** they're telling you to eat! MY '05 Screw had 17 miles on it at delivery. I got a bout 300 miles on the first tank. At 6900 miles I'm getting 400 before the fuel warning comes on. That is mostly freeway driving, but still it's the 4.6L Screw on a very mixed grade freeway (15 for anyone in socal). Don't bother quoting the sticker fuel economy to some grease monkey--no offense to any shop owners--because the Gov't doesn't regulate that much--they can legally put the highest average amount and still be kosher. I'm sure he would much rather be a ***** to you and have you take your 'warranty' work elsewhere, simply because they aren't making a dime for the work. Don't be surprised if it takes longer than expected to get the truck back. I'm sure they'll take other work ahead of yours. The only way out of it is if they are loaning a car to you---just rack up the miles, do tranny-drops, and powerbreak stalls. Right there outta their driveway, do a nuetral drop and burn it down the street---see how quickly they get you back into your truck!

 

My '05 4x4 scab was vandalized by a d*ck who put water, sugar, styrofoam, and goodness knows what else in the gas tank. With 490 miles, it got at worst 15 mpg before the 'fuel' treatment.I'm not light on a gas petal either.
When cats were stopped, and injectors fouled, it got at least 9 mpg.
Now it's back in the shop for tank, rail, cats, injector replacement.
The cats were ordered on Friday. They were installed today. It sounds like they're screwing you all the way around.

 

Depends on how I drive but if I drive 'normal' I can get 14.5 mpg on stock tires and with my 33s I'll get 13 mpg.
