They made the mistake, be it actual or intended. You as the customer would reasonably assume they would know what they are doing and understand the policies of the maintenance refund. You made the deal based on the amount of refund and hopefully they show it on the paperwork with no mention of subject to change or final settlement on the cancelation.

If they do anything to hold up you plates, title etc, you can back out of the entire deal as there was not a meeting of the minds. Tell them to give back your Ranger in the same condition it was when traded in and you will buy a truck from a reputable dealer.

Good luck.

That's certainly the one of thecrappiest things I have heard a dealership do.

Tell them to go screw and if they call again, then tell them your gonna sue their a$$ off for harassment.

Don't pay! And I would be sure to let the GM know that they lost a future customer over some BS mistake.

Extended warranty's are always pro-rated on refunds. The reason for the delay in the phone call is because it can take up to eight weeks to get the refund. I hear the Finance director on the phone with customers all the time who are calling about cancelled extended warranty's. Our business office manager requests the cancellation, and then she waits for a response on what the refund will be. So the $364 difference may be true.

What is actually important here is what you were told. If you were told the amount was an estimate and that you would be required to come up with any shortage, then you are responsible. If that wasn't the case, then you shouldn't have to pay. When I sell a car, if I haven't called to get an exact pay-off for a trade-in, I tell the customer we're using the number on the contract as an estimate. If the pay-off is less, we'll send you a check, if it's more, then you'll owe us the difference. This must be disclosed at the time documents are signed.

If it was not disclosed as I have discribed, then they need to eat it. If they push for the extra money, then tell them you don't want the new truck and want your Ranger back. They won't want to do this, and may have already sold your Ranger, so they'll eat it.

Good luck.

I would bring the truck back to them before I paid that, on principle. You buy a $30,000 truck from them and they can't eat chump change for their own mistake. If they can change the terms after the papers are signed then so can you, I'd take them the keys if I had to, but not more cash. They kept screwing up my paperwork, and had me making 50 mile round trips back to the dealership, on the third trip back, I made them fill my tank.

Everything is negotiable. Best of luck with the dealership.

Well, no phone call today from the Sales Manager, so we'll see if he calls tomorrow.... I'm not going to pay 364.00 for thier error....even the finance manager told me yesterday, the 950.00 should have be prorated in the sales contract from the start, I'm not giving the finance manager a hard time, she used the figure the sales manager gave her.....but also said that she saw the 950.00 full refund and thought this would be a problem, but did'nt say anything when I was signing the paper work on the truck...
so thats the update so far.....
i'll post if he calls me tomorrow....
thanks again for the replys and advise....I just never heard of anything like this being done.......the truck been delivered, detailed, titled, plated, undercoated, fabic protected, paint protected and line-x by the dealer and has 1000 miles on it...... done deal
thanks again all......
