WRONG.

Before you send off the survey, hold it hostage and ask to speak with one of the managers. You could even get him to give you a free tank of gas for your time wasted AND a new service advisor if you fill out the survey with excelent markings. And if you send in that survey and its "flammed" and you happen to get the same service adivsor, watch out.

I have always had good luck with Wagner pads...

And I'm sorry, but I still think most "brake problems" are due to drving habits. If you run and gun in a 6,000lb vehicle, the brakes will take a beating. Just my opinion, and we all know what they say about those.

What message would I send by letting some jerk off the hook over a tank of gas? None. The fact was that our brakes would have left in the same condition – we only would have scored some gas.

Simply stated as before, after my wife tried to talk to her service rep at the dealership, she was treated poorly – we complained via the report card to Ford. Our problem was resolved. I don’t care if the dealership got a black eye. Our issue, with the vehicle (that we paid so much for) was fixed... and I didn’t have to look like an @$$ trying to extort services and a tank of gas.

Do what you like. Our brakes and radio were a problem and are not any more and we haven't had a problem since any issue we bring them is taken care of promptly - the service you'd expect for paying so much for a vehicle.

I have heard of brake problems with all makes cars and trucks, I feel its mostly the way you use them. Trucks are heavy you need to treat them like a truck even though they feel and drive like cars. Learn how to bed in your brakes and rebed them when they squeak and it will stop. In auto racing this is huge .

I'm 100% behind this statement, the one where someone was saying that ford should take care of this because the brakes should not squeek or be faulty on a new vehicle. This is the way I feel and there are no excuses in any form or fashion for the brakes squeeking and not being fixed. We'll see what happens at my appointment sept. 8.

For everyone stating that the brake problems are due to the way it is driven.......

You have no idea what you're talking about in this scenario. I am about the easiest going person on a vehicle that I know, almost always under the speed limit, never 'run and gun,' and I cruise easily into stop lights or traffic stops instead of hammering down and slamming on the brakes at the last minute. I know how to drive and I'm intelligent enough to know that being hard on brakes = worn out brakes and problems. By the way, having driven several other fords and f150's and still owning another f150 besides my '04, the brakes on my '04 seem to be sorry anyway, maybe not even good enough for the type of vehicle they're on. In this case, driving habits are not the cause of the problems, especially when hundreds of other people on this forum are griping about squeeky brakes on their trucks. Its a trend, and trends lead us to believe that when it happens on hundreds of the same vehicles, that it might just be a problem with the product and not the user.

They beat these trucks to death when they test them, so I do too. I drive my 04 like i stole it. No break problems. Sure the a/c doesnt work ,it vibrates like crazy, my diff locked up, they forgot to put a 3inch plug in my floor and it flooded when i drove it threw the rain, the windshield squirters did work, my a/c would shut off, and they had to reflash cause it kept stalling and surging( still surges). I blame ford, its crapy suppliers, and the dealers when they say its NORMAL. You shouldn't have brake problems even if you gun and stop, hell they design these to work with a loaded truck. Take it in and shove it up there butt. I took my 01 in for brakes at 18,000 miles they said it was fine and tried to charge me 25$ to check them. I walked out, went home called them and asked if they were going to charge me storage fee's. They said for what, I said cause I am not going to pick it up you can keep it for the next 4 months till my lease is up, then I hung up. They called back and said they would take another look at it for no charge. I hate dealers, I hate ford, I only drive one because I hate them less than the other car companies. , never have gotten a car I didnt have to bring back for something.

Amen 01vert, what you say makes good sense. I hate car companies too, they all play their games with people. Even Toyota has more quality problems now than ever and they treat people like dog doo. The only companies I can tolerate are Ford and Honda. From sales to service my family and I have had the best luck with them. Honda has better quality but doesn't make a real truck so there game playing is mostly on the purchase end. Ford has the products I like the best and they are easier to purchase since values have tanked so much this year but they play all kinds of games with quality and service. All of this grief over what is ultimately a depreciating asset. The whole industry is rotten to the core.

I agree that the industry is what you'd call rotten. I've always had good luck with ford, more so than other brands. I've seen chevy's that run forever but have a lot of little problems like interiors tearing up, I've seen dodge's that barely have a decent paint job straight from the factory, and I've not gotten into the full size trucks from the foreign manufacturers yet. I still believe in good ole american muscle. A friend just bought a new chevy and the interior of it is shameful compared to my new f150. His has lots of features, about like mine, but a few less and the design totally sucks. Ford interiors have always been attractive for years. Even my '93 f150 interior beats the 90's chevy's. Anyway, I'm not liking the situation at hand, and I'll be patient and deal with it if they won't fix it properly. I'm going to go in knowing ahead of time what I'm entitled to and I'll play off of that.

Good point you guys are making......as a ford guy, bad as I hate to say it, if these trucks are 'built ford tough' then what's wrong w/ my truck and 90% of everyone else's on this '04-05 forum? Just a few quality mistakes on the new models, hopefully they've gotten it straightened out in '06.
