2005 F-150 5.4L A/C Performance???

On my 2005 5.4 S-Crew FX4 (Silver) ... unless you have the A/C on recirculate, or MAX, then it doesn't get real cold.

I previously had a 2000 Ford Ranger and it would freeze you on just normal A/C.

What can I say ... it just doesn't get cold. Anybody else???

I have an 04 and mine is the same way. I checked the charge from the factory and it was low. I added a can of R134a and it is better but it still doesn't get as cold as I think it should.

Same thing here. I have a 92 Bronco that will freeze you out . My 05 FX4 Screw takes forever to cool off the truck on a hot day. I have been too lazy to bring it to the dealer or check the coolant myself..
BTW:I dont want to hijack the thread but what type of steps are those on your FX4

Mine blows cold after it's been on for 20-30 minutes. Dealer said it's normal.

Just giving you a hard time. This has been discussed quite a bit. Most likely low on R134. Some have had leaks in their AC systems. Have the dealer check it out. The AC isn't real powerful in our trucks thats for sure.

Those are the Ford "Bright Tubular Running Boards" ... they were on the truck from the factory.

Mine did the same thing,. Took it to the dealer and it was blowing at 40 degrees which is within specs. I just turn on the recirculate button and keep it there until the dog farts!

I'm not impressed with the AC in my F-150 either. My sport trac would blow ice cold air right away, it takes quite a while for the F-150 to cool down, and it does not get as cold as the trac did. I'm not too worried about it now that we are back in Alaska, but in Vegas it sucked.

The a/c on my 04 lariat sucks donkey *****. On a hot day (90) it wont even keep you cold. Works great when its 75 though. Took it to the dealer they said it was normal for the a/c not to get cold on a hot day. WTF, I didn't know a/c was part of the winter package. I know 2 people with 05's manual a/c and they get cold. My dealer thinks everything is normal.

Been having the same issues in my 04. I have had to leave my Auto temp at about 65 all the time. It will eventually get cold, but in my opinion, I shouldn't have to be blasting 65 degree air in order to feel cool.
