Calling ppl with Flaresides

What do you do about the massive amount of water that drips out of the tie-downs everytime you wash your truck?

I spray them out several times with my air compressor and still come back 10 mins later and water is dripping out. It happens for hours after I wash my truck. Any solutions?

If I pull one of them off to see what it looks like behind it, is it difficult to get back on? Don't want some nut falling behind the bed where I can't reach it or something.

I usually do the same and just blow it off with the air compressor which usually takes care of it. It never really continues to drip after that.

I just soak up most of it with a towel first then I hit it with the air compressor.

Sorry I couldnt be more help

I took this from another forum I had just read It seams like a great idea, I think I may try it as I have a flareside too.

People with great ideas like this deserve all the praise in the world.

"Have you ever washed and ragged your '04/'05 FX4 and had those virtually useless outside bed hooks leak water down the side of the bed? And even a day later take alittle cruise in your clean machine and have water streaks down the side. Well fear not, there is a cure. Carefully take the hooks off, take special attention how they go back on, and take a rat tail file and cut a grove in the bottom center of the plastic backing plate for the hook and reinstall. This allows the cavitity behind the hook to drain and viola, no more streaking."

wow, I think ima have to try that one.

I was thinking about taking them off and filling the back up with a silicone glue or something so it wouldn't have as much room for water to sit in there. I just want to know what's involved in removing them. Don't want to take one off and then not be able to get it back on. lol

I seriously blow mine out... wait a few mins... blow them out again and a huge amount of water still comes out. It's seriously hours after I wash my truck water is dripping.

I only have that problem with one, ( the first one on the drivers side ) the others don't do it and I don't know why. Usually after I wash and dry I take it around the block and then wipe up what's run out and all's well, ( usually )
maybe one time out of three times it'll still mess with me a little time after, but I found that after waxing it won't leave that dumbarsed water streak.

I usually wash mine at the car wash with the pressure washer and haven't noticed this happening. Maybe the higher pressure keeps it from getting in the wholes or I don't wash it enough to notice.

Like to know mysefl.

Thinking about trying it tomorrow if the weather is good when I get around to washing my truck. I'll report back and possibly take pictures.
