Leveling Kits?

I have an 05' 4X4 and I was wondering what I should do about bringing the front end up so that it is level. I am going to put 285s on and I was wondering what is better the 2" coil over kit, or the 2.5" Auto Spring Kit? If anyone has either of them let me know what you think.

I've got the 2.5 autospring and I love it. It makes it sit perfectly level and I have no problems fitting 305/70/17's. Do A search on Autospring and you'll find all the info you need on it. It's available in the 1.5 and 2 inch kit also.

How hard is it to install a kit like that? Would it be something an average weekend warrior could do or would it require taking it to a shop?

Me and my dad did it in about 2 1/2 hours with about a 30 min break in between sides. It's not at all hard to do but you may need an extra set of hands or it may be difficult. Of course we had air tools so it wasnt as hard.

I completed the Autospring 2.5" install back in March and theres nothing to it. Some people on this board have the Daystar kit and I think they needed to compress the coil spring, something that you won't need to do with the Autospring. It bolts on top of the c/o and mounts in the original factory location.

I did this by myself with only hand tools, bottle jack, jackstands, and was able to compete both sides in less than two hours.

The difference that this makes is night and day to the stance of your truck and the best thing is that it does'nt change the road manners of your truck at all. Plus when you do decide to upgrade your tires and wheels it will give you a few more options.

Just a word of advice.. Get an alignment ASAP after you put on this kit or you will be putting undue strain on the suspension components that will lead to premature failure, not to mention excessive tire wear.

Cheers
Ox

I have a stupid question. Will using a level kit increase gas mileage any? With the front end being higher and all?

I put 2" Ground Force drop shackles on mine because it was easier and didn't change the front suspension angles. I am running the stock 17" inch tire/wheels and don't plan to go bigger. Truck looks and rides great. The back sits 1" higher than the front.

There are tons of pics like you're looking for posted in various threads here. Go to the "search this forum" box towards the top and type in autospring. You'll find more than you ever wanted to read.
