Hi I've lurked a few times here since buying my truck last November. Thought I'd post a picture and ask a couple questions. The pic is from the day after it came home with us.

1. I've only been able to get 13 mpg out of her, I see some of you are doing better. Still only have about 5K on her since it's kind of used on a recreational/home improvement honey-do basis. Does it still need to break in more or is this it??

2. Now that I've read some of your posts, I guess I have noticed that the truck kind of lags when hitting the gas, especially on the freeway. Besides the throttle-response TSB, are there any other biggies I need to attempt to get my dealer to take care of?

Welcome to the forum
If your just car hopping to Home Depot and other short trips, i would think thats about the average your going to get with a 4x4 in the city.
As far as other things to watch out for, not really, 99% of these trucks have no problems. Just seems like more because of the .002% that post here.
I have had the disc brake rotors replaced, clutch paks replaced and a few other minor things fixed, but attribute that to my early build. Everything is fine now.

welcome.
being that you only have about 5k miles and do a lot of stop and go driving your mpg is probably about right. mine improved after i got it broke in.

as far as throttle responce, i had my dealer reflash the computer and it helped out a lot. it was not all gone but it was better. the only way to get the throttle lag completely gone is to get a programer, xcal or superchip.

btw nice looking truck

Welcome .. very nice truck ..
As the other guys mentioned for the kind of driving you seem too be doing your gas mileage may be around what it's gonna be. ( unless your heavy on the foot ) The re-flash by a dealer should greatly improve any throttle lag for sure ..

Thanks for the replies...

There were at least a couple of tanks of gas in there that were just about all freeway miles. I'll get a couple more thousand miles on her and see. I was fortunate enough to be able to keep a couple of running beater vehicles to commute in, thus the very low miles on the Ford. I wish I could drive it daily. A lot better than a black, 1988 toyota, no A/C, no sliding window and not a day under 90 since June!

Another day 1 pic:

Congrats & welcome aboard. 13 city mpg's is nothing to sneaze at. Others have done better in the city, but not much. Easy on the gas and easy on the brakes may get your closer to 14.

As for other problems... there are no other problems. Don't be one of those that reads some posts here and then starts to 'hear' or 'feel' things wrong with their truck. Dealers hate the phantom problems - And they will drive you insane.
