Back from Body shop
Back from Body shop Actually made money on this wreck
Got it back today. Shop had it 3 days total. Still some knit pick still left. but I gotta get to work tomorrow. I gotta say thanks to the lady that hit me. Looks like her insurance is buying me a Fabtech 6" kit.
I saved 2 grand on the repairs vs estimate.
Now I need a new emblem as I misplaced the one that got ripped off in the wreck. I'm talking about the F150 emblem on the tailgate. I'm hoping there is something a little different I can use. But when I search for emblems all I find is the oval overlays.
Any ideas?

One reason there can be a big difference (based on 31+ years adjusting claims) is that when a vehicle is damaged, the owner wants it back perfect. They want everything with the slightest nick or scratch replaced and metal that could be repaired to be replaced with new.
However, once you have the check in your hand, your thinking changes (can I live with the small scratch in the bumper and keep the $400?, can they fix the dent in the door until it doesn't show and keep the $800?, etc).
The same goes when you cash out on a rental vehicle. You are owed a rental car for the time your vehicle is out of service due to the accident. You get paid a reasonable amount for rental so you can go out and rent a replacement vehicle. However, once you get the check in you hand, you decide you can live with the inconvenience of bumming rides, borrowing a car or just doing without and pocketing the money.
Nobody did anything wrong unlesss the owner demands something be done beyond a normal repair and then doesn't do it. I have had unreasonable customers who demanded a new part when the damaged part could have been repaired and when I have decided it wasn't worth the agrument, I have paid for a new part. However, I would then cut out or break a portion of the part I just paid for to make sure it was replaced or pick up the old part before I paid for it. I bought the part so it was mine.
