Question about windsheild wipers

I have had the darndest luck out of my drivers side windshield wiper. The problem I have is when I am on the interstate 70+ mph and raining, the blades start to chatter on the windsheild. Around town they are smooth with a very clean wipe. Whats happening is the blade is coming off the windsheild by the turbulents, but I have tried replacing the blades and the new ones do it also. I also tried bending the wiper arm, but with no avail. It doesn't do it on the passenger side, just the drivers (typical). Can anyone help me out or do I just need to buy a new arm? 'Preciate it.

Sounds like the arm is not set right on the gear. Take it back to ford they will probably just replace it. I had that problem on an old car. It could also be the springs.

Are you running any add ons? Bug shield, eyebrow, etc. It sounds to me like this is due to uneven airflow, since it only does it at higher speeds. I noticed the airflow pattern changed around my windshield when I added my bug shield. If I hit the washer above 70 mph, it sort of tries to suck the washer fluid away from the windshield. It's definitely not right, and the fact only the drivers side does it is weird. Switch the driver and pasenger arms and see if the problem moves with it...

Best of luck with this one.

Are you using Rain-X on your windshield?

I realize this is a wierd one, but I don't have a bugflector or anything that would change the aerodynamics. I don't have rain-x or anything else on the windsheild. I would change the wiper arms, but the passenger side has a different angle than the drivers ( I thought the same thing, too ). I've got 25k miles, I wonder if it'll be covered under warranty?

I thought both wiper arms were the same, and they were indexed a little different, but I guess not. So much for that idea. Before I took that to the dealer, I'd try Rain-X on the windshield, sometimes that will smooth them out. A dealer usually won't work on something until they see or hear it. You'd have to wait until the next rainy day, take it there, get them to drive it (on the freeway). Sounds like a real hassle.
I'll bet with a little tweaking, you can hash this one out.

I really hope so. The index was the word I was trying to say about the passenger side wiper arm. It doesn't really affect the truck, just the grinding sound on the windsheild really aggravates me. Thanks for the replys!
