2005 Hesitation

Any one else have a bit of hesitation when turning a corner and re-accelerating? Slow down for the corner or for traffic to pass and then step on gas and get a hesitation 1-3 secinds then vroom off she goes. Anyone????????
Thanks in advance. Btw, I did search but couldn't find anything on the 2005.

1-3 seconds? Hell no! There is a known throttle lag with our trucks, but nothing near those times.

You need to get that checked out man!

Mine did hesitate until I got the relash. Much more responsive now.

Build date is May 2005 so dealer says he finds no messages on my truck for hesitation/lag. I don't feel like it is the normal "drive by wire" lag either. There is no way that the hesitation I feel is normal nor should it be there. They did fix my headliner rattle & my ashtray rattle and my bed extender rattle. They didn't fix my hesitation nor did they fix my a/c(which blows cold but not cold enough to cool interior of truck down to the point where I can switch off max a/c mode before my 45 minute ride home from work is over), and they didn't fix my clunk in the rear that occurs when I step on the gas after making a complete stop. Once again I was told that they couldn't find any messages for my truck. This is crap!

I don't think there is a message that records the lag. Not unless it is being caused by a malfunctioning throttle body or something of that nature. The lag I had was when you jumped on it, it just sat there for a moment before it would move out. For instance, when in traffic, needing to pass or change lanes. It was dangerous in traffic. my dealer gave no resistance, just hopped on it and did it. Made all the difference in the world, even firmer shifts. Made it fun to drive. Tell them that you have been talking to other Ford owners that have gotten it done and tell them the TSB number. That may help some. Hope you have some sucess.

Problem is that because the build date of my truck is after the cutoff date for the reflash TSB. That date is April 2005 from what I understand. Btw, the hesitation you describe is what I have, but in addtion to the conditions you describe it also occurs when I slow for a corner or a bend in the road and then step on it as I get around the corner. It is a dangerous condition, but unless ford updates its TSB to include May 2005 my dealer won't do it. Any Ideas???? Help.....

PonyDriver, I would inquire as to how much it costs to have it done and offer to pay for it yourself. See what attitude is. Tell him that if you have to pay for it yourself, that is the last business of yours he will get.

You might also try going to Ford Customer Service on their web site.

Or call the manager at the dealership, tell him what your problem is. Service is where they make their money. Besides, Ford pays them for the update. It does not matter that your build date is afterward, you have the problem.

Oh, btw, I'm also getting the "no problem found/can't reproduce problem" dance from the4 dealer too. So they tell me to bring it in and take the mechanic with me for a drive to show him what's happening and of course it doesn't do it with him in the truck, but on the way home from the dealer guess what? Same ****!

That sounds normal to me. Just about everything I ever tried to show someone, it decided to work perfectly

If your truck is after the date that that TSB covers.....then there may be nothing that can be done because you may already have the newest update in your PCM.....Untill they come out with another flash which they will. Here is an example of what I'm talking about, cause I see this at work a lot. OK, car A was made in january, and car B was made in febuary. Car A has version 2.0 in the PCM and car B has 3.0. Ok, the TSB applies to car A and not car B. When you flash car A, you then bring it to version 3.0 and since car B already has 3.0 it can't be updated any more untill they release a new version and come out with another TSB. This is probably what is happening in your situation and untill they have another flash their MAY be nothing you can do. Just thought I'd share this information.

Lol...With the exception of the rattles, I have had the exact same problems with my truck. The drivetrain clunks usually twice while picking up the throttle from a stop or slowdown for traffic...dunno if that's normal or not.....took truck in for the AC...techs put the little thermometer in the dash vent and said it's blowing 40 something degrees, but it takes almost my entire drive home, which is 35 minutes..on max AC before I feel I can turn the fan down. And almost always after I turn it down, it starts getting hot in the truck again, so I have to put it back on Max.

P.S. I have a regular cab too....dunno how you Super Crew guys keep cool lol.

That doesn't seem right.....I have mine on max for about 20 minutes, then I progessively turn it to where it is on about fan speed 2 and split floor/vent to be comfortable.
