Just looked at mine and my 5-6 and 7-8 pads are brighter than the others. I'm not gonna worry about it unless they completly go out.

No, I don't think that I can agree with that. Even an intelligent person can manage to lock their keys in the car if he or she becomes distracted enough. The keypad does serve other purposes however as jpdadeo said; keeping your keys in the vehicle at the beach so they're not lost is one way it can be used; keeping the truck running on a cold winter day while stopping at the 7-11 is another. I can think of several more reasons too.

I for one am glad that I have it.

I use it all the time. When I have to get something out of the truck I dont have to go looking for the keys in the house. Great feature.
