Wheres my Owners Manual?

Hey whats up everyone. My name is Brent, and this is my first post.

Im 20 yrs. old (almost 21)<----cant wait for that day) Ive been living and working full-time in the twin-cities for about 9 months. I grew up in iowa, went to college in Houston, and now live in Minnesota. I just recently bought a (used) 04 XLT 5.4 f150 Scab, black in color. Im trying to start saving for some rims/tires and a lift, but I just have to many damn bills right now, but im shooting to get this done before winter. Well anyways, enough with me, and back to the question...

I think im missing my owners manual, unless its hidden under the carpet, I cant find the thing, and what I really want to know is, How do I get rid of the seat belt ding? I thought it was something like un-click, click turn on lights or something. So if someone could tell how to do that, that would be great, and also. How can I get a new owners manual?

Thanks again.

First of all I want to say welcome and congrats on the new truck. If the manual isnt in the center console or the glove box, I would also check under the seats. You can get a new one at a dealership and if you got it at a dealership, you shouldn't have any problems getting a one. Second, the search button is your best friend on this site. I have seen the seat belt covered here before and if you search for it, I am sure you will find it. Good luck.

Read steps 1 - 4 thoroughly before proceeding with the deactivation/activation programming procedure.

Note: The driver and front passenger BeltMinder features must be disabled/enabled separately. Both cannot be disable/enabled during the same key cycle.

The driver and front passenger BeltMinder features can be deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
- The parking brake is set
- The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission)
- The ignition switch is in the OFF position
- The driver and front passenger safety belts are unbuckled

To reduce the risk of injury, do not deactivate/activate the Belt Minder feature while driving the vehicle.

Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT START THE ENGINE)
Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1 minute)
- Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt warning light turns off.
For the seating position being disabled, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times, ending in the unbuckled state. (Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt warning light turns off.)
- After step 3, the restraint system warning light (airbag light) will be turned on for three seconds.
Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
- This will disable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it is currently enabled. As confirmation, the restraint system warning light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds.
- This will enable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it is currently disabled. As confirmation, the restraint system warning light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the light off, then followed by the restraint system warning light flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds again.

Thanks TrueBlue for the welcome. Ill keep the "search" in mind for further questions I did purchase at the dealership, so hopefully they will give me one free of charge

and kingvinnie, thanks for that. Ill be doing that first thing tomorrow morning, after I write it down of course. Wow, I had no idea it took so many steps

and Matt05fx4, and everyone else. I DO wear my seatbelt, whenever im going over 25+ mph, but like in the drive thru at BK or trying to find a spot at the gas station, I usually un-buckle, just cause its uncomfortable, and the ding just annoys the hell out of me. But like I said, You will never see me driving down the free-way without a seatbelt.

anyways, thanks everyone for the welcome. This seems like the Ultimate site for the 04+ f-150's

That's the link I posted. You can download the owners manual and other docs the customer would get at purchase for any Ford vehicle, 1996 to present.

Whoops. I was thinking that your link was to a 'pay for the product' website... Looks like it takes you to the 'myford' website. Again, sorry about that.

Welcome aboard brently... I'm the resident loon. LOL!

Holy Cow KingVinnie! That's the first time I have seen that. You sure you don't have to stand on one foot and yell "Snipe" at the same time?

You know, Ford actually pays someone to come up with these procedures?

I wonder what you have to do to turn off the seat belt chime on the space shuttle????

Lawyers - Make sure it takes a nine step convoluted process to disable so this doesn't happen....

"Well your Honor, all I did was turn my headlights on and off three times and it disabled my seatbelt chime. You see, it was raining and I wasn't sure if my headlights were on, that's how I ended up doing it three times. Little did I know that would disable the chime. Your Honor I depend on the chime to remind me about the seatbelt and Ford was negligent in making the feature so easily disabled. Woe is me, then came the accident.
And that your Honor is why I'm sueing Ford Motor Company for twelve point five million dollars."

Sorry, just couldn't let this thread die. It's too funny.

First, welcome brently to f150online.com. Nice to know there is another person here from the twincities. I live at 7 corners, right on the west bank of the U of M campus.

Second, holy cow was that funny reading the nine step process. The entire time I thought to myself...geese I hope they don't ask me to pat my head and rub my belly while I'm doing that!

Third, that bit about the lawyers making them had me going for about an hour. I laughed so hard partly because last semester I had a law class and that was one of the cases with a different auto manufacturer. The guy was a back woods redneck and made out with a ton of money for nailing a tree, going through his wind shield and landing in a field. Funny thing was, if he was wearing his seatbelt he would be dead. The tree ended up falling over and smashing the driver's seat of his truck. He got away with only minor cuts and a ton of money for accidentally turning off his seat belt chime!

Fourth, just the topic of this thread. It seems on this board, nobody will read their owners manual or even refer to it. It's like stoping and asking directions, if there is a girl in the car, you just don't really want to do it. So when someone puts up a post that they can't find their owners manual, I just laughed that much harder.

Thanks for the thread guys, you made my day!

Hell, all I wanted to do was learn more about my new truck. I thought that would be a good thing And when I couldnt find it, I was a little pissed to find out I bought this "almost new" truck.. missing something. No biggie tho.

Thats cool seeing your from the twin-cities too. Sure was a hot one today!

Thanks again everyone for the welcome.
