Which shocks do you recommend for this lift?

Guys,

I am going to order the skyjacker 3" lift for my 4x4, and it comes w/ the skyjacker platinum monotube shocks up front as part of the coilover....it does not come w/ rear shocks. I was considering buying the skyjacker nitro shocks for the rear, but after searching on here it sounds like people are saying the skyjacker nitros or hydros are not much better than stock shocks. What do you guys think about them?

I was considering the bilstein 5100 series as a result, but they're much more costly. I figured I wouldnt' really need a monotube shock on the rear of my truck, I want it to have a good smooth ride and not just totally stiffened up, as it will be on the road 95% of the time. About $70 each is as cheap as I can find the bilstein 5100 series, the ones for lifted trucks that are zinc colored. The rancho adjustable 9000 series I've heard good things about, but those are even higher.

Honestly, IMO. It goes like this.

1. Rancho 9000RSX Adjustables
2. Bilsteins

The Bilsteins are one of the best shocks, Im not ******* them or anything but the Ranchos have them beat by a little. IMO. I've always said do it right the first time!

Thump,

do you have the rancho's on your truck now or are you still running stock all the way around? I'm going to order this skyjacker kit soon, just wondering what kind of rear shocks would give the best ride. Bad thing is, I won't get this kit put on very soon, I gotta pick out some wheels and wait on all that. But in the meantime, I'm still saving $$ for it all.

Im running stock shocks but do have experience with both shocks and personally I'd go with Ranchos over the Bilsteins. They both are very close to each other but because the Ranchos are adjustables, they give you a choice of changing the ride for street and offroad.

Thanks thumper, obviously still haven't heard from anyone else on this topic. I wonder what the others are running and how they like their setups.
