Removing seat panel on Lariat?
Anyone know how to remove the panel on the left side of the Lariat driver's seat? Actually, the panel itself looks easy enough but there seems to be a trick to removing the ***** and such. Any help?
We are talking that plastic panel on the side that the switches for power seat, memory, go into?
I have removed them lots, but only with the seat out on the ground. The hard part, and I do mean hard, is pulling the dang lumbar wheel off. It's on with friction, enough to pull the seat around on the floor. I don't have that kind of strength in my hands, so I used plastic 'spreaders' for body work, and used them to protect the panel surface, then popped the wheel off by wedging several of the plastic spreaders in there. If you must pry them off, be aware that the plastic marks very easily and use something soft surfaced.
The seat recline lever has a hair pin shapped clip, that you push off from the bottom. You can press the plastic in enough to see it, then push it off with a thin screwdriver. It then flys free, landing in some hard to get at place.
The memory switches you just disconnect the harness, the seat adjuster pops straight back and off. The center has three or four clips and can be popped out. Three bolts (big philips) hold the main panel on , with a firm clip at the back, and a push in pin at the front.
The power seat switch itself is held on by two philips screws, facing backwards.
