Thumbs up More power Overnight

The stangest thing happened. I have never been able to get the tires to break loose off the line until yesterday. Now with nothing changing everytime a punch it they break loose for 2 to 3 feet and the truck feels as if it has more power and responce to the peddle. Anyone else experiance this, I dont get it but its great. Just turned over 17000 miles maybe the engine finally broke in?

Known fact

Due to PCM adaptive learning mode.

Even when you do a custom tune it takes a few hundred miles to realize its full potential. If ya drive it hard it will perform better. Drive it lightly and it will respond in kind. If you want it to go "mo better" then keep yer foot on the floor.

unfortunately its adaptive learning has picked up doing keg stands with my gas tank... man i love to hear em chirp, but i hate to watch that needle drop... may have to back off a bit on that pedal.

I'm feelin the same thing MHP. Mine just turned 16k and pretty much seemed to wake up overnight. I believe a little in the adaptive learning thing but I really never drive mine hard much. It just seems to have finally loosened up a little and feels smoother and peppier overall. My xcal2 is on order...it should really feel good then!

Really? I sure don't mind the experiment. Could get a little pricy though @ $2.60-& $2.80 / Gallon for 91 octane. My truck rarely breaks them loose, i think these trucks have good posi on them, even around corners hammering it mine tires don't spin them too much, but it does pick up and move pretty well, at least after the mods...

I must agree...I think the computers are learning. Everyone always got on me because of what I drove, but it's not what you drive it's how u drive it. I shut quite a few people up in my 01 Grand Am after it got "broken in". And I can notice my truck getting a little looser as I drive. I just hit 21,000k and its pushing much better and tires are starting to slip a little now too.

Man, that's a lot of mileage!!!

21,000k * 1,000 = 21,000,000 miles.

21 million miles and going strong...amen brother!

Maybe its just the rubber that is doing the "adapting learning"? 18-21k in tread/rubber loss.

That could be true, BUT, I have brand new rims & bigger tires with plenty of rubber so I dont think thats it and that wouldn't acount for the feeling of more power.

MHP,

Did you have a temperature change or humidity change in your area, that will definately add more horses...just a thought
