Bed Bolts
Bed Bolts
Anyone know what kind of bit you need to tighten/remove the bed bolts?
I had a Line-X liner put in yesterday and they removed the bed bolts, now it seems like the bed isn't quite square. I don't know how much play there is in the bed bolts, but I'd like to try and straighten it up.

My Line-X guys were great and I bet yours would gladly align the bed. It's your money, so I would definitely ask them to check it & straighten. They want you to be 100% satisfied so you'll recommend them to other truck freaks (like us) without having to mention the bed alignment.
Bed Crooked? Hard to Fix?
My Bed has been noticably off to the left since day one. How long will it it take the Ford Dealer to straighten it out? I am just wondering because the kid behind the counter was telling me it would need to be done at their collision center and I would lose the truck for two days.

Two days to loosen 6 Torx bolts and measure? Sounds good to me...

Thanks for the repy's guys. I'm sure the Line-X guys would try, but when I asked them about it they said that there wasn't any play in the bolt holes and it was where it was. They're new in the buisness and just don't have much experience. Seemed like I know as much about it as they do (nothing) and I trust myself more than others, so rather just try it myself.
I'l get a Torx T-50 and see what I can do. Anyone else tried this?

XLT01, I had to realign my bed on my 2004 Ranger after installing a body lift. Slight pain as I had to do it myself. Before I unbolted the bed, I measured the distance between the bed and the cab on both sides. This helped quite a bit as I was able to align it within a tenth of inch of factory. In your case, maybe a trip to the dealer and measure the bed on a new truck and realign yours to that spec as close as you can. Worked for me. Sorry the Line-X guys can't help you. Good luck and let us know how you do.
Why would you have linex remove the bed bolts? Are you gonna take your pickup bed, sprayed with linex off for some reason?
I have had them do at least a hundred trucks, and never have had them mess with bed bolts. Just curious.

Suncoast,
FX4 is correct, that's just their standard thing. I didn't know they were going to remove the bolts until I picked up the truck. They do it for potential servicing/repair issues that may require bed removal.
