Clarification on 4X2 Leveling Kit Please

I'm sorry, but I've been using the search for the past hour looking up information about leveling out my 4X2 and got stuck on something. Some fellow 4X2 people use 2.5" lifts while others did 2" lifts...so I gott a little lost. Considering that I plan to get airsprings, would a 2.5" bulldog the truck? Is 2" the better option for 4X2s ? I know this topic has been discussed numerous times, but I just wanted some peace...hoping that I wouldn't f'up my truck

Thanks

I would go with the 2.5 inch kit and add a block to the rear to adjust the height to where I wanted it.

i have the 4x2 reg cab short bed. i used the 2" kit and i am perfectly level. The guy that did the install on mine had a SCrew and said he thought his truck had a little more rake than mine. I guess the best thing to do would be to take a tape measure out to your truck and see what the difference is between the front and back - do a little math and go with whats best. if your going to be hauling or towing a lot i would go with the shorter lift as your back end is going to drop under a load and its not fun driving that way.

Not sure if this is right...but I read somewhere on this forum that if put in a 2.5" kit and then the 4X4 2" rear blocks it would pretty much make the truck equivalent to a stock 4X4 height but a bit more level. Or maybe i'm just seeing things since its 5:30

sspangl, thanks for your input, I will definately take it into consideration.

Yeah, a 2.5 inch leveling kit and 2 inch block in the rear would put you at about the same height as a stock 4x4. However, you may only need a 1 inch block if you want the truck closer to level.

Does anyone know of a leveling kit that lowers the rear instead of raising the front?

Yep. They are called drop shackles and the kits are made by several companies (GroundForce, DJM, Eibach, etc.). They attach to the rear of the leaf springs and give about 2" of drop. There are longer shackles available but you will run into clearance issues with the underside of the bed framing. You may also need pinion angle shims due to changing the angle of the drive shaft when you drop the rear. The GroundForce kits come with them included. Some folks had to use them and some have not.
