everyone with the superchips I need help

I just put on my airaid and tuner in about an hour. Nice boost in acceleration! I used the superchips performance in all the transmission settings. I used the stock rev and speed limiters. When I got on the freeway, I mashed the gas pedal. Imagine that! It went all the way up to the rev limiter, and started to cut out the motor. My question is what shift settings are evreyone else using? Or do I just bump up the limiters? A little help would be nice, thanks.

The problem you're having sounds like the rev limiter. If you are using the 'Superchips' settings for shift points, then you also need to raise the rev limiter. If you don't raise the rev limiter, then you're asking it to shift at a higher RPM than the PCM will allow it to go; thus the limiter kicks in & shuts off the fuel supply. So, raise the rev limiter, and all should be good.

Yep, those guys hit it straight on the head, same thing happened to my Superchips 1745. Need to increase the rev limiter a bit, to what? I'm not sure. Actually took the SuperChips out and ordered an XCAL2 from Troyer Performance. You can call Superchips and ask what they suggest or post this question in the Chips and Programming section and see if Mike Troyer from Troyer Performance will pick up on your question. Good Luck and at least you have a reasonable explanation of what's going on!

I like the superchips settings on the shift points and pressure as good as any of the custom settings. I set mine to +20 and it would hesitate and then almost break your neck when it shifted seemed like. Every now and then I get some scratch in second with the Superchips setting. I think they say too much pressure starves the pump or something. Raise the rev limiter and speed limiter, just don't get too carried away, because you will be capable of going over 120.

What is the stock top end speed limited to? I was going down some desolate country highways last weekend and was going 120. I don't have a tune or any performance mod. How is that possible? I thought the top end was 105 or something. I have an 05 F150 4x4 Lariat with 3.73 gears and stock tires and rims and the country highway was perfectly flat with no wind.

I have a 1745 on my truck and it shifts before the rev limiter comes into play. Both the 1-2 and 2-3 shift are awesome! About 5200 rpm, perfect imho.

You musta had a strong wind at yer back man. Im not being sarcastic either thats probably what was happening. The truck even with being retuned and having the speed limiter removed or if your truck did happen to not have a speed limiter by accident which I dont think is the case truck still would have a hard time doing 120 with no other mods such as an intake. Even with reprogramming truck and eliminating top speed limiter, atleast in my experience, about 108 -109 is all truck will do without cryin about it. Once you hit around 109-110 you would notice it trying to "breath". You would hear and feel it. So if your truck was doing 120 with no mods probably had a good wind at yer back and maybe a little grade downhill. It was not the motor doin 120.

Before getting into tuning issues w/the ECU, my "cut-off" was 99-101MPH.
