05 Problems

I have an 05 Reg. Cab 2wd F150 w/ 5.4 3.73 L.S (5000 miles). Truck has a few problems and I wanted to know if anyone else has had any of the same ones.

Had the cam phaser changed.... but the knock has not gone away (yes, they said they used the new parts). I posted this in the engine section also. Has anyone had the fix done....but still have the knock??

Passenger side floorboard is getting wet. But only under the floormat....

Gas gauge stuck the other day. I turned the truck off and filled it up. When I started it back up the gauge did not move. Turned it back off the on again... still nothing. After driving for about 20 minutes it started inching it's way back up. Took it an additional 30 minutes or so to read full.

Brakes squeal like crazy. Looked at my rotors and their all grooved up. I know this one has been rehashed a few times.... I'll read up more on it. I read where you can replace the pads with some good aftermarket ones and that
will fix it. However I do have a problem with putting pads on my new truck so it doesn't squeal everytime I stop (maybe I'm just stubborn that way )

I'm a die-hard Fordman... always have been.... probably always will be. Maybe this trucks a lemon... maybe not. Just trying to get a feel for what's going on here. Even found a few screws on the floorboard, hmmm..... wonder what those went to . This will be the 3rd time this one's in for warranty work... that's 3 times more than my last Ford ( and it lasted 235,000 miles!!).

Don't know about the cam phaser........the floorboard getting wet is probably the 3rd brakelight leaking and it runs to the passenger footwell and sits there, I believe there is a TSB on this one. The brakes they will fix at 5,000 miles for that problem. Sure, you shouldn't have to put pads on a truck with that low of miles to not have them squeak BUT there is one advantage of this, if you use some pads like Porterfield's, no more brake dust!!! It may cost you a little out of pocket but not only will you get rid of the squeal, you won't have to clean your front wheels every 3 days.

I had the exact same problem with the fuel gauge in my 2002 SD and it turned out to be the sending unit in the tank sticking. It was replaced under warranty.

Wow, never thought it could be the 3rd brakelight problem. Guess if there are grooves cut into the floorboard (under the carpet) I can see how it would run all the way to the front. Gonna go outside and check it out.

There's a TSB regarding water leaks into the passenger's side floorboard, but it applies to '04 model year vehicles only. Involves sealing a port where a bulkhead connector passes through the RTV.

There's supposedly an updated cam phaser in the works, but I haven't heard anything about a release date for it.

My truck was built end of 04, but the sticker says 05. Just checked the floorboard and pulled up the plastic peice that covers where the carpet meets the door. This shows the channel where the wires sit in... well it was full to the top with water. Geez! Kinda ticks me off, ya know! All the carpet from front to back about 4 inches from the door is soaked.
