running boards

Well, I have an 04 Screw with the plastic platform boards that are fading so I called my local dealer wanting the bright tubular ones as replacement. I asked the guy if they had the boards in stock and will they mount up on my 04...the ones on the 05 Lariats on the lot...he replied "Yes, we got them". I sent one of my employees down to pick up the boards and as it turned out he sold me the "chromed nerf" steps. When I went to return them for the other, he said the "bright tubular" steps were special order and sold separately and once you get both sides and hardware it would run around 1k...huh...I told him the MSRP sticker price on the boards was 350...and he fed me some crap about how everything is more expensive ordered separately.

What's the deal here? Does anyone have a stock # on the Bright Tubular Boards that were bought for around $350 after delivery of their truck so I can do this guys job for him? Are the 04 and 05 boards the same? Does anyone have a set for sale? Help.

True about the option buy. If we tried to build a truck piece by piece it would cost well over 100K to assembly maybe 200K parts prices are high. Iv'e seen some off the aftermarket boards price out near $500.

Not totally sure if these are the ones that you are looking for (I don't even have a truck yet, but for some reason I still can't help looking at mods already )but anyway I had found this parts site during my net travels and I think these are the boards you're looking for from your desciption: http://www.cheapfordparts.com/produc...oducts_id=1689

I think they use the same factory bolt on locations as all of the factory running board options so it should be an easy diy.

He is correct. You cannot buy those bars that are available for 350 from the factory. They can not be ordered as a kit. Ford has never offered these as a kit, only off the assembly line. Therefore, they can only be ordered seperate and are very high dollar.

bmcqueen,

I believe those step bars are made by DeeZee for Ford. DeeZee has some bars that are available at retail that are very similar to the Ford OEM ones. Here is a link to DeeZees web site: DeeZee Bars.

Are you talking about the stainless steel/chrome looking tube step bars the turn in slighly at the ends? I know the 4 inch SS tubes are $350 and the 5inch SS tubes were $425 at my local dealer. I got the 5 inch SS tube step bars for $325 at the local dealer. I dont know why he gave me a deal on them, but he did. I just called and asked for the Ford 5 inch chrome step bars. He told me on the phone that if I picked them up that day I could have them for $325 instead of $425. I picked them up at lunch that day. I didn't buy them when I bought my truck and I got them from a different dealer than I bought my truck from.
