That looks really good for a home done job. You should be proud as hell with your accomplishment.

I don't know if you have thought of maybe a CB in that space for the shift.

I like the big resolution. When I need a pic for info, the more detail the better it is.

Looks great. What are you planning to do with where the floor shifter would be?

Awesome job!!!!! This has gotten me wanting to do this now. I guess the big question is what to do with the shifter hole. I like MrPhish's ideas of what to put there, but anything I'd try to fab up would look like crap lol.

See thats the problem I didnt take any measurements when I was building it. Aside from the width of the shelf and total width of the unit. I just made some templets with poster board. Cutting and adding untill it fit. Then I transfered that pieced together one to a good piece of poster board and made shure that fit. Then I cut out my plywood, checked the fit on that. Then cut some pieces of 2x2 to connect the two sides together. There is also some 2x2s on the top of each side to match the curve of the console. I cut these at an angle then sanded them smooth. Then I fit the shelf inside. I think thats about it. It was really just a trial and error process. I think any one who is good at working with their hands can do this.

Well I got caught up in this console stuff. Got one for 40 bucks on the way. I have some ideas and have been studing some lariats to see how it fits.

Also have thought about cutting the front to match the lenght of the XLT console and buy that front part with the cup holder from the XLT console instead of the lariat and cut to fit.

I think all of us should start a separate link on what to do with these ideas.

Of course the cool thing is you can always reinstall the middle seat.

pa-wolf,
How did you attach your mod to the main console. Also, did you have to cut/grind off any of the hardware in the front the console that you bought on E-bay so that you could flush mount the wood unit to the plastic console?

I did have to cut off the brackets on the outer skin of the console. *IMPORTANT* Leave some of it on so you have an alignment reference. I bolted the wood to the "frame part of the console" wish I had pics to show what I was talking about. But if you have one of these consoles you should be able to figure it out. Here is a link of a how to make a wood console.

Pa_wolf,
I have a few questions about your console. Did you notch the front of the plastic console that the sliding cup holder would fit. If you did what kind of saw did you use? Also, did you cut the carpet and remove the pad under carpet to get the front bracket to work to attach the console?

Hell ya in the shifter hole put a power converter so you have a place to plug all yer stuff in anything that can be plugged in like yer electric razor or if yer vid cam needs ta be recharged. Fabricate sumthing so its got like two or three outlets there man, plug yer laptop in in yer truck whatever.
