Reservists called to active duty may get additional protection but everyone entering active duty is covered. I've used it myself and helped many others get their rates lowered.

Heck with the truck, and especially to 'heck' with the naysayers.
They want the benefits, but not the responsibility.

Thank you for standing up and doing the right thing.
Be safe, and God Bless You.

Don't listen to the nay sayers. The idiots telling you that you will get killed are watching too much Peter Jennings. Sorry about your truck, but thank you for your service to our country!!

You will be suprised though. Even though you will take a pay cut, you get three meals a day and free room and board. You will be suprised how far that money will go. You may want to wait until after boot camp to see where you will go. Just my $.02

Good luck man, have fun, and I think you are making the right decision!

Your local Ford dealership will have one on the showroom floor when you get back - trust me.

Great decision. I joined the Navy at 19 and did 6 years. Sap it for the training it's worth and if it's not for you get out and get a good job. You'll do well, it's all what you make of it. Best decision I ever made was joining.

Thanks for the suport guys maybe Alaska is just full of some un patriotic people?! I'm glad there are people out there who do support the military and those who do their part to help.

as for keeping the truck i know i could probably swing it if i was REALLY determined but i dont want to have to stress about money and how i am going to fill that monster gas tank or any of that stuff, I am only 21 so there will be plenty of times for new vehicles like this one. i actually traded my motorcycle to some highschool kid for an svt contour with an oil starved motor (bike was reconstructed and i only paid 2300 for it!) AND 2grand to pay for the new motor.... so maybe i will just hang on to that and ship it down to whereever i go instead of selling it for more $$.

thanks again for all of the support guys! its great to see and hear people like you guys!!

shower shoe to skivy warrior

First thing, thank you for taking pride in our society, willing enough to take a stand to preserve it. The experiences that you will have will be what YOU make it. Second, don't let the recruiter cut your throat. I just got out of the corp. I was an 0481 red patcher so I was around the birds alot and hopefully the guy that said he was an airwinger will chime in on this for you but...It is my understanding that a crew cheif is a billet or quota that you have the opportunity to fill once you reach SGT and sometimes Cpl if you command likes you because you are a 5.0 skivy warrior and yor primary mos is a mechanic. This kinda thing happens after you first term which I think for the wing is 5 years and you re-enlist. Then you push for the crew chief quota as a bonus.I could be wrong but make sure you get what you want in the contract RIGHT the first time. As for the truck. That is the real dilema here. I would keep it but it will be a finacial nightmare and may cause you to be a 4.9 marine. What to do? Best of luck in your journeys
