Where to mount light switches?

I need to wire up my KC lites and was wondering where everyone installed their switches. I was thinking in the cigarette lighter area or on lower dash. Thanks.

I'd always thought I would try to mount an OEM headlight switch where the coin holder is to the right of the steering wheel. Kinda thinking of driving lights, bakup lights and bed lights. Seems like the headlight switch would give me that multi-position capability. But I'll have to look into it some more. With these new rigs I wonder how much of that muti-capability is computer controlled? Or is it really a simple switch?

p.s. - I also don't know if that coin holder exists on any other than the Lariat. Thought I heard that that location housed the 4X4 switch on the FX4's

yea, on the 4x4's thats the switch- do 4x4 lariats have a different 4x4 switch placement?? im gonna venture to guess that the OEM switch is exactly that, a simple switch..turn a couple times to close the circuits, pull to close fog circuits

I mounted mine on the cigarette lighter panel. One on each side of the lighter.

Thanks for the replies. I may mount them today so I'll have to decide shortly as to where. Will keep informed.

I put mine on the plastic panel under the steering column.

If you had just checked my web page before you started you would not have this problem. Now, go add a 47Kohm resistor in the LED ground wire and enjoy the reduced glare.

Click pic below, navigate to mods->lighting->driving lights->mod notes.

Cheers!

Made a bracket that comes out of the top of the kick panel and mounted the switch to the right of the steering wheel.

Decided to mount them next to the cig lighter. Thanks for the respones and thanks for the pic pickupsman.

NOTE: If anyone looking to mount a switch at this location it's very easy to do so. Just open the glove box ALL the way open and reach to the back of the cig lighter and push the whole black cig panel out(very easy).
