Squeeky front brakes...

Im right at 13500 on my odometer and Im already hearing a pretty good squeek on the front brakes. Is this related to some of the break unusual wear issues on some threads Ive read recently??

Also, if its time for a brake job, what was the brand of brakes that had low "brake dust" levels?

Thanks folks!

just rolled 3k and i squeek like heck... however, im having no dust issues
my squeeks may be contributed to driving on dirt roads? even then, im not sure that grit can stay there that long once i get to intown braking

it's the nature of the pads. Every late model vehicle is the same. premium aftermarket pads are the only way to stop it. With the pads should come new rotors, as the factories may not be up to say a ceramic pad...

Dunno, No noise from my brakes, and I pummeled them lately, trying out the Kleen-Wheels. Nothing like riding them down from 8000 feet, switch back turns...
Never any squeak, squeal, etc.

Nor on my neighbors, who shoves it up and down the Cajon pass every day. He’s put 40,000 miles on his in 8 months.
I asked him about squeak, and he says never.

If you get sand into the pad, if the pad is fairly soft, it digs in and becomes embedded. Then it is drug around until it eats itself away against the rotor. And silica takes a long time to be worn down by iron. Sand paper anyone?

Squeek and slight wobble...

Besides the squeek, I also noticed a very slight steering wheel wobble when I brake heavier than usual. Perhaps another concern I should have???

I really dig this truck and hope Ford comes up with some permanent fixes. I'm starting to get frustrated with the temporary fix they do as I go in for service... funny thing is once the problems comes back, they seem to be worse than before... UGH!!!

Yes. I had the same problem.

Dealer will replace front rotors and resurface the rear, in most cases.

Anyone with stock rotors and aftermarket pads having any trouble? I'm interested in stopping the dust and squeel but don't feel the need to go as far as aftermarket rotors if I can help it.

it's been mentioned already in this post, and hundreds of times on here, go with the Porterfield brake pads and you'll have no more dust. There is no need to change out the rotors if your stock ones are still good (not warped). I have 10k miles on my Porterfields/stock rotors and no problems at all!
