Funky stereo display issues

Sorry to post this here, but no one seems to be checking the stereo forum.

Funky song/station display on stereo

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an '04 F150 FX4 SCrew with the 6 disc indash changer. I don't know if this is an issue with the stereo or the radio stations but the display that shows the songs takes FOREVER to change words and doesn't go in order.

By "forever" I mean 1-5 minutes to change the words. My husband's car whips through the words every 5 seconds and it makes sense.

For instance today I was listening to a local radio station and STP came on. So for about a minute it said "KWOD".... (1 minute later).... "Stone_Te".... (2 minutes later).... "Now On"..... (10 seconds later).... "ilots"..... (5 seconds).... "vs 2.0"..... (1 minute later)..... "mple_P"....

So the radio station is KWOD vs 2.0 and the band playing was Stone Temple Pilots. The display doesn't go in order because it should have scrolled through KWOD vs 2.0 then the band and then the song. And the display change time isn't consistent.

And this happens with ALL radio stations that have the display capability.

Anyone else experience this???

My 04 viba lemon did the same thing. Never was able to read anything on that. I never had it checked out because it was always in the shop for other problems. Don't think my 05 has that ability since I didn't get the audiophile this time.

Yours does CD & MP3 names? Mine doesn't

I've read through my manual and I've played around with the damn stereo for DAYS and still can't figure out the display part. UGH!

Chris,

My audiophile does the same as yours, no scroll. The only way to see the rest of the info is to manually keep pressing the 'TEXT' button while the song is playing, this will show all info in the TagID. I would like to figure out how to get it to automatically scroll.

I had so many strange problems with my stock player, like format read errors, it not displaying correctly. That rather than waste time with the dealer I just replaced the whole thing with an aftermarket system. I feel for you, I really do. Those stock head units are crap.

Racerchic,
If the signal from the radio station is not strong enough, there can be skipping in the data like that. Make sure your antenna is nice and tight. If you see the "ST" (Stereo) signal on and it sounds good, I would assume the station is coming in nice and clear. Take it in and get it swapped out for free if you're still under warranty.

My CD-6 shows the name of the band and the song on an MP3 cd, but I cannot get it to automatically scroll. I have to hit the "6" button, I think.

My player only displays text for MP3 CD's and I don't think it scrolls. Radio station ID's don't show up, neither does text for standard store bought CD's.

Some of the store CD's that are 'enhanced' show the text. I wish it would scroll too. It's a pain to keep hitting the text button, I'm lazy & want to control it all from the steering wheel!!
