AF1 installed - so far so good
AF1 installed - so far so good
I finally received my AF1 intake last week and installed it. Only took about an hour. So far, after driving a little over a hundred miles, I haven't thrown a CEL code (knock on wood). My F-150 feels more responsive and the noise level isn't as bad as I thought even at WOT. However, I wasn't too impressed with the parts. I had to reshape the little tube that sticks out because the end was bent inward and not round. Also the "L-shaped" rubber tube had gouges in one end which concerned me about not being able to get a tight fit around the air assembly.
But so far it's running great!

That is good to hear. I am in the market for an intake, but I am kind of waiting until I hear that all, or most anyway, of the kinks are worked out. I had an AF1 intake on my Navigator and had the same problem with the tubing, so I just put a zip tie around the connection to make sure it didn't slip off.

Yes, some have had problems ... and some of those were fixed by install adjustments ... but there are MANY with early and late builds on this board and others that have not had any CEL issues. From a betting point of view, I'd bet that a problem is quite unlikely when installed carefully and correctly.
To those unlucky few ... with some sort of real problem I'm sure sorry, but I don't feel lucky ... no, I just don't feel unlucky in this particular case.
I know somebody that got the AF1 just recently ... partly my fault probably ... he put it on and got a CEL ... was pissed ... I asked him if he cleaned out the junk in the tube before installing ... he said no ... that he just pulled the stock one off crammed in the MAS and bolted it on! ... Well, we pulled his off and sure enough it wasn't clean on the inside ... I'm not sure he even got the MAS seated all the way as he didn't wallow out the holes so that the screws went in straight! Anyway ... we did some of the same stuff I recently did, to tune mine, to his.
He shot some electrical cleaner at his MAS as I cringed ... but hasn't got a light again since we put it back together.
IDuno ... but maybe it has something to do with gunk from an uncleaned new tube getting clogged up in the sensor ... maybe the MAS wasn't seated ???
Please NOTE ... I certainly wouldn't recomend spraying down your MAS with anything!

I had the CEL just after installation. Its been about 2 or 3 weeks now since it was cleared and it hasnt come back on and the truck runs great, personally i notice donly a slight difference in performance but its worth it just for the noise.
