Mark LT Handles and Dynamat Question?

So I'm going to do the black Lincoln Mark LT handles and was thinking about doing some dynamat on the doors too.

When I bought the truck I had some spray on sound proofing done inbetween the doors and the bottom of the truck.

My questions are these:

Will the dynamat be worth if I've already had spray on sound proofing done and will just be doing the doors and keeping my audiophile sound system and not upgrading my sound system?

How much dynamat will I need to do all four doors?

I read in a previous thread that $7.99 a roll roof sound proofing at Home Depot is the same thing, just a different brand. This true?

Thanks, Duke

Good question... I have read many places that this stuff called "ice and water gaurd" is the same thing. Only difference from dynamat is this stuff is asphalt based. I have see others noting to buy it in advance and unroll it and let it air out. Otherwise your F-150 will smell like a hot asphalt parking lot or hot roof.

Well I wonder if Dynamat will be worth it though if I'm not upgrading my Audiophile system and already paid for the sray inbetween door stuff.

Dynamat it... Froogle search, you should be able to get the bulk kit for around $150.

Yeah I think I'll buy some Dynamat Xtreme off ebay for cheaper and just do the doors. Doing the floor and headliner would probably be more work than what it's worth.

After reading dzervits post I did the LT handles and Dynamat.

One Bulk pack is just enough to do all four doors and a 12 inch wide strip & 7 inch strip inside the doors on the front doors & a 12x12 patch inside the door behind the speakers on the rear doors.

I used one full width sheet and a 7 inch strip to cover each door. The leftovers were the 12x12 patches behind the speakers on rear doors.

I got a bulkpack on ebay for 99 bucks plus 30 shipping.

When you get the door panels off, carefully take off the clear plastic liner and use this as a template to cut your dynamat. Works great.

Yeah Dlewis,

What has been your impression? Was it worth it in terms of reducing noise and improving your stero system? Was it worth the $120? Did you go ahead and put the plastic shield back on? How long did it take you to do all four doors, dynamat and handles?

Thanks again,

Duke

Dukester - dunno if you saw my other post of my review after I did it. Overall it was well worth the time & effort... and I will continue to do the rest of the cabin as well..

Yeah I saw it, but I thought you had said you were upgrading your speakers and thats why you did it? Either way I'm going to do it since I'm already taking apart the doors. There is no way I want to rip up the floor or the headliner though, even though I know that would help so much more.

My next thing is the 3M film, but I just got a quote of $1,200 to do the front upper bumper, both side mirrors (because I'm going to find someone to paint them), and a strip on the hood and fender flares. That quote is nuts and not consistent with what everyone else seems to be paying.
