Brake Dust Problem

This may already be in here somewhere. I just got my truck and have under 500 miles on it and my front rims are covered in dust. If someone else is having this problem or can point me to the right thread I would appreciate it.

Go to your local auto parts dealer and spend $50 on new ceramic brake pads for the front. Solved my problem.

On the ol' "five wrench scale", how difficult is it to change out brake pads?

Bah, the brake dust on these things isn't *that* bad...if you think it is, I'd invite all of you to clean the brakes and rims I had on my Roush Mustang. Those 14" 4-piston slotted bastards made a HUGE mess in no time flat.

If you lick the rims, the brake dust won't adhere to them...just get pics of them being licked

if you can figure out to get the wheels off, you can figure out the brakes, its pretty simple. all you need is a wrench and a C clamp

[cheapest fix]

buy yourself a mr. clean car wash machine for $15. wash the tires and rims as you normally would. then shoot the filtered water on the tires and rims. let dry. no more dust. mines been dust free for almost a month after doing this.

works every time - oaw

After I got familiar with the truck, my dust went down 90%, but I still got tired of cleaning it off. Even my filtered pressure washer didn't get it all, and I would end up on the ground with a rag. I was also worried about over washing the center cap, as the Lariat caps have a tendency to lose their plastic covering.
I went with the Kleen wheels, all the way around. I wasn't sure I liked the look, but then, I was never that happy with the rusty looking calipers, and the dirty rotor either...
Now that they have been on the truck a few weeks, during which I have thrashed the brakes, I am starting to like the look. The black aluminum sets of the bright chrome look. I do wish I had waxed them before putting them on. I have one coat of NXT on them now.

Dust is so light that I can wipe a weeks worth of hard driving with a Kleenex.
No overheating of the brakes after blasting up to and back down from Lake Arrowhead this weekend.
Chris

I just pulled my front brakes off...the back ones don't dust up as bad, so I don't worry about it. Makes it a whole lot easier to keep clean.

Umm...you probably should have some brakes on the front.

Thanks for the photo on the Kleen Wheels. Just got two pair from eBay.

Dust

listen, its gunna be a problem no matter what, unless u get the break dust sheilds, which look pretty bad. So whipe it down with a rag and it will come off really easily.
