Weekend mods
This weekend I added an extra fuse panel inside the dash. It powers up whenever the ignition is on. I am going to use it to run different things later on.

I also installed an Autometer D-PIC gauge. It measures G-forces and from that calculates horsepower, quarter-mile times and speeds, etc. Like a G-Tech only in the form of a gauge.
I also got my old Bronco out of the garage to clean up the garage so I can put it back in and have enough room to install the 6" suspension lift.

More pics in gallery.

Got the guage pod from Moss motors. It also comes unfinished, but not in wood grain. Thumper, maybe you could paint it to match the other parts of you dash or get a matching wood grain overlay from something else and stick it on the unfinished one. After seeing it I think I could make one pretty easy. I would make the back out of sheet metal, and then take the front off your Lariat ashtray and stick it on there. Cut out three 2 1/16" holes and there you go. This one tilts the gauges towards the driver but I don't think that is totally necessary.

I have been looking for something like this as I had plans to get rid of the ashtray but didnt know what to replace it with. I will be painting it as well as the crappy woodgrain of the front bezel so it will all match.
(edit)NM I googled it and purchased one for $50.00(edit)

I sure do love those '78-'79 Fords!!
Best looking Ford trucks ever; in my opinion.
I used to have a red and white '79 Bronco Custom. I got it in '88 and had it about 5 years until I finally parted it out.
The center console in my '04 F-150 reminds me of the one the Bronco had except the Bronco's was flatter and had no arm rest pad, although a lot Bronco's back then had true captains chairs with arm rests on the seat itself.

man, nice bronco!! i had a 78 with a skyjacker 6 inch and 38s. the body was so rusted, it was actually 40% aluminum flashing, beer cans, and duct tape. and i spray painted it olive drab. it was just a beach truck, but it was a beast. even when the rear driveshaft blew off, i just drove around with the front shaft, it was unstoppable. when i moved back to raleigh though i had to part it out since there was nowhere to keep it at the apt... now that im in a house now, i wish i had kept it. im always looking for a new one, but they are extremely hard to find around here, esp if youre just looking for a beater to make ugly again
