I just bought a black Carriage Works black replacement grill. The welding process they use left weld slag all over the thing. Once powder coated in gloss black, there are countless bumps everywhere, including the front edges. The finish kinda looks like a really bad paint job, as if someone threw sand on it before it was painted. Does anyone out there with these grills have the same thing, or did I get the grill made on a Monday after a long weekend of binge drinking. Just trying to decide whether to exchange it or return it altogether.

 

Call them. I had some missing nuts/bolts and they sent the replacements out. No questions asked! Take a picture and email it to them. They "should" take care of it.

 

Send it back....my black one was perfect.

 

Thanks Ram. With the top notch mods you've done to your truck, I'll take your word that I must have gotten a bad one. I'll give them another chance. A black grill on a black truck just look so sweet. Already have a black XLT grill surround waiting to finish it off.......

Yeah, got top and bottom. The bottom one is better, but still has quite a few defects. I will be returning both.
