Deciding on Exhaust

Alright fellas...its about time to get some exhaust. I want SIDO of the rear. I want that deep throating sound of the flowmaster but i dont want to lose much power. We have pretty harsh winters with a lot of salt and dont want it to corode the metal so what would you reccommend? I was looking at getting the American thunder kit with the 40 series by flowmaster.

I'm in the same boat trying to decide what I want. I'm thinking of going with the Roush SIDO off road style exhaust, which is much louder than the basic exhaust since I believe it is only single chamber or flow through. Might as well keep with the Roush theme that I've got going on.

Supposedly, Magnaflow is the only design that doesn’t lose low-end power

All of our vehicles wear Magnaflow - every single one of them - simply because it does the best job.

I absolutely LOVE the sound of my Magnaflow SIDO that I installed this past week -- a nice throaty growl without being obnoxious !

i have a flowmaster 40 and the first thing i noticed what that it felt like a lost torque. it made a lot of noise, but didnt seem to go anywhere, and its very raspy at high RPMs. now take all that with a grain of salt, i did a SIDO muffler sideswept before the tire, and used dual 2.5 pipes. the pipes may be too large for such a short system and i could have lost significant backpressure. from everything else ive heard though, ill probably go with the magnaflow when i redo it

Obviously the stainless steel construction of the Magnaflow system would be a plus in your climate....

I'd avoid the Flowmaster. My 40 Series is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too raspy, and power feels either the same, or maybe a very slight loss of low end. This is way I'm switching to an IMCO 1-chamber. Louder, smoother, and flows better baby!

I installed the Bassani SI/SO stock location. No power loss at low end, noticable gain in mid and upper RPM.
It is similar in volume to the Magnaflow 18" but in my opinion has a smoother, fuller tone.
I love it. Quiet at idle, ramps up on acceleration and then you just know it's there at cruise. Fit and finish are PERFECT!!

Hey les... mind letting me know where you bought you bassani system? I had their stuff on my old cobra and loved it, other than the price. I am really interested in their sido side exit system. which did you get, and if you dont mind, what did it set you back?

thanks!

ssnake...I have the SIDO rear exit Basanni and really like it alot. Plus their customer service is awesome. I had a slight problem with it, called and told them and they sent me out all the new parts I needed no charge.

The cheapest place I could find it was Fairway Ford in California. It was cheaper to buy it there and have it shipped to NJ, than it was to buy it anywhere near me.

After sitting in the garage for a month I finally installed the series 50 siso exhaust, has a good deep tune. Also put in the ram air air box for my hood. to soon to tell anything.. I read a while back that it take the computer a couple days of driving to compensate for the add ons. Will be pulling my camper on a short trip today so we will see..

snake - I got the SS SI/SO stock location from V8Power.com here in So Cal. I actually ordered the Bx aluminized system but Bassani shpped them the SS instead. so he gave it to me for the Bx price. If I remember correct the SI/SO SS was around $550 and the same for the Bx was around $340.
At work so I don't have my receipts with me.
