Unhappy what would you do - Paint problem?

So i washed my truck myself for the first time today. I did enjoy it and i got a good tan but i dont see how you guys do it. I spent two hours on it and its still dirty.

Found a problem though and would like informative opinions on what i should do. On the underside of the drivers front quarter panel ( in the wheel well)there are some paint drips and it looks like the clearcoat is coming off of them. Would you go through the hassel of having it fixed, re painted? I live in upsate SC about 2 hours from where i bought the truck in GA. My best friend owns the dealership and i do believe its the largest in Ga. so i would assume they have a pretty good reputation. My buddy has always taken care of me and my family but i've never incountered any problems like this. I'll post a pic here and there are some more in my gallery. Thanks in advance for any input.
its still under warranty too.

I'd leave it alone. It looks like the clearcoat may be what ran. If it doesn't change, you're probably better off to not bother it.

you could add fender flares and you would never see it again.. But you may not want to go that route

I'd leave it. The dealer will probably just sand it down on buff it out.

If it bothers you (and it looks like it does) have it fixed. You have every right to demand 100% satisfaction. Two BIG pluses:Your best friend owns the dealership and your truck is still under warranty.

It comes down to how much is it really worth to ya. time without the truck verse a couple of clear coat drops. Like Russ said if it bothers you that much have it fixed.

Just my 2 cents

you could always just sand it down yourself. thats what i would do. but my dealer knows my truck has screwed up sheet metal, its been painted twice now and had the hood and a door skin replaced.

yea thats what i though at first when i felt it. However, when i looked closer at it you can see where its acctually the paint that dripped. The clear coat then dripped even more over it. The clearcoat is cracking and peeling off and i was just worried about rust or the paint being bad and peeling.

I drive trucks till they die so i am really just looking at long term effects. And its not noticable unless you are on the ground looking up at it. Maybe i'll jsut call the service dept and see what they say about it.

Don't do anything.

You can't see it from a normal angle, right?

Body shop paint NEVER holds up as well as the factory paint (sorry body shop guys, but its true and you know it )

The drip is better than the chip.

I agree completely. Sometimes an attempt to repair a very small blemish ends up with a big mess before it is done.

Unless you can see it, I'd leave it personally.

Two things...

1. Definitely not normal.

2. Very easy fix. I certainly don't think it'll require a respray.

They'll take higher grit and knock it down. They'll finish sand with 1500 - 3000 grit. A little compounding and it's good as new.

I, at the very least, would take it in and let them look at it. This could be a result of a dealer 're-touch' as OODLES UPON OODLES of vehicles are sprayed in some way/shape/fashion before they hit the lot as 'NEW'. This is COMMON practice in the automotive world (just go talk to a dealership body shop about what comes in off the carriers with a ding or scratch!).

Demand 100% satisfaction and the dealership doesnt even make the vehicle. Thats just dumb to take it out on the dealership. But make sure the dealer does THEIR best to help you.
