Purpony....may I ask a question?

I have been on your thread about the Mark LT shifter and it is awesome.

I am trying to figure out how you remove the old shifter... I have pulled down the neck peice like it is in your pics and removed the cap.

I am lost after this piece...can you help?

Thanx in advance.

Hi -

Yup.. .slide the chrome cover down and there will be another black plastic retaining tube... slide tha down as well.... may take some force.

The you pull and hold the chrome button out as you pull up on the handle.

Dont lose the spring thats in there... the spring will either be stuck in the handle so you will have to take it out before installing it (which I didnt do so I ended up crushing it and needed a new spring), or it will be on sitting on the shifter shaft.

Hey Yellow,

Can you take some pics as you do this conversion? Are you doing the tan or black?

Thanks,

Duke

I will do that. I have the BLACK shifter. I will be doing this probably on Thursday. I will post asap.

Does that "Black Retaining Tube" have four sides to it where you will need a pair of needle nose pliers to grab it and pull it down?

I ask because there is nothing that resembles a "TUBE" there is a "TUBE" if you were to connect the four sides together... I can see the steel shaft which is about 1/2" in diameter and then there is the clip which appears like a drywall clip which you would push together to stick in a hole and then it would expand in order to hold a screw. This clip is on the outside of the steel shaft.
