Street/Off-Road Look!

I installed a Autospring 1.5" Spacer on this Bad Boy and look at the Results. The 1.5" spacer gave the truck 2.5" of front lift and the control arms DO NOT bang against the Coil Springs!! As you can see the tires are 305/55-20 Nitto Terra Grapplers mounted on American Racing Vengeance Forged (chrome finish) Wheels 20x8.5 with 6" of backspacing and NO rubbing. IMO this is a good Street/Off-Road look. Check out the FX4 badge on the tailgate...right at home. thumbsup

That looks sweet!! Love the wheels and the lift. Hoping to get my Autospring on in the next few weeks.

Love the badges too! Nice work.

Maybe this is a simple/dumb question since I am not familiar with leveling kits, but how does a 1.5" spacer provide 2.5" of lift? Is that with the taller tires?

No that was with stock tires. It has to do with geometry. I am not 100% on the correct answer so I won't b/s you but all I know is I measured the height of the spacer before I installed it and then I measure the height of the top of the fender well after I lifted it (with stock tires).

Stock:
Left: 37 1/8"
Right: 37 1/2"

Autospring 1.5":
Left 39 7/8"
right 40 1/8"

The best way I heard it explained was like this...think of the suspension as a see-saw. When one side goes down the other side goes up alot more depending on the lenght of the board. Plus I think it has something to do with the alignment of the stars during a lunar eclipse. Pure magic

Think of the length of the body as a flat board. If you put the spacer on the very end then you get that much lift; 2" spacer = 2" lift. Since the lift point is closer to the center then the effective lift is more than the actual spacer; 1 5/8" spacer = 2" lift. The confusion comes from the manufacturers measuring the actual spacer vs. the given lift once installed.

Spring contact

I also installed the 1.5" Autospring spacers.
My upper control arms do not contact the springs either, that is until the Brake team at work wanted to evaluate my truck for brake pedal feel.
They did agree with me that the pedal feel was soft, too soft.
So they were kind enough to bleed my brakes for me.
Now the pedal has the feel it should.
But they put my truck on a hoist to bleed the brakes.
It seems when you lift the truck up by the frame rails the upper control arms do drop down far enough to contact the springs.
Now I have a spot on each spring where the plastic coating has gotten scraped off the spring.
A spot about 1" long, and 1/2" tall on each spring.
Any thoughts as to what I can use to repair these spots?
