Grille causing overheating??

I was about to order a stainless screen grille(lund) from ford and my uncle that works there advised me not to. He said they have had 2 or 3 people take em off and throw them away because the trucks were overheating when pulling. He said it wont let the air through the grill. I can see where there would be truth behind this but is it going to happen that easy? I usually dont pull a whole lot or for long distances. Just the boat for about an hour and a half 2 times a month or so and just the car trailer/cargo trailer within 15 miles of home. Should i get it or be on the safe side and look for something else?

I like the looks of the lund grille the best and its cheaper than the others.

Is your question related to a 2004-2005 F150 or your signature '99?

I got lund grill inserts. not the stainless though. the holes in it are only about 1/8 inch in diameter. when I installed them I was half expecting air flow issues so I watched my temp carefully. still heated up at about the same rate. and never got hot even once, even towing. I don't have anything in the lower bumper.

I have the stainless insert on top and bottom. I even have a piece of black aluminum screen wire between the insert and grill to help keep the bugs out of the radiator. I tow every day with no over heating problems. Get it with confidence.................

Could you post some pictures of yours? It would be awesome if someone had the red with arizona beige two tone on a lariat to see how it would look on my truck. I would just do the main grill and leave the bumper out.
