HELP!!! Instrument Cluster Face Replacement

I need assistance...

I am replacing the face on the instrument cluster. I have removed the two screws at the bottom on the sides of the steering column. I have lifted up and released what I believe to be one clip on each side of the cluster.

I am stuck...It doesn't want to release from there. Where are the other screws to release to housing? I need to get the whole assembly out to replace the face.

Thanx in advance...

I attempted to pop off the DOME. I couldn't get it off. (Nervous about breaking or cracking something) Any thoughts on how to remove dome?

when i say dome,im talking about the part of the dash that it just over the steering wheel and the cluster.i think it has 2 screws at the bottom to remove it,then just pull up,its just held with clips and ive pulled mine off atleast 6 times now without breaking anything.

I think I know what you are referring to. The "Dome" sits above the speedo. Then you have the rest of the housing around the speedo, right?

If so, I am having problems getting the dome off of the rest of the housing. I don't see two screws which would release the dome.

I have, however, removed the two screws on the sides after I popped off the lower housing to reveal them.

OK

Got the face plate in. Now I set the dials to go where they are set when the truck is in the OFF position. Once I connect the power, the dials turn left momentarily and then go to "Below Normal" posistion. Any suggestions?

Let's say you are starting from the beginning. There is the flat square section above where your shins would be that is held on by two screws on the bottom and two clips on the top. Once you pop that off you have the plastic piece that fits around the steering wheel and gauges with the dome on it. that also has two screws on the bottom (right behind the clips of the first piece removed) and two clips further towards the windshield. Those you kind of need to lift up and out to release. Once you have the two dash pieces removed you can now see the whole gauge assembly. There are four screws holding it in to the dash (one at each corner). Remove the screws and then the shifter cable and the whole assembly will come out. Then to get the clear plastic face off of the gauges there are six clips, four on the bottom and two on the top. That's it
That's the best I could do to decribe it. I hope it helps. Watch the needles they are very fragile.

Before you put the gauges on did you mark all locations of the needles with the car ON and in normaloperating conditions? If you did, when you put the needles back on you should do it with the car ON and in normal operating conditions so that the needles go back exactly where you marked them.

Hope that helps, it seems last time I typed to slow and you already figured it out. Good Luck

Got it figured out. For some reason the old needles didn't want to go on as easily and I had to use the needles supplied with the guage. I wanted to offset the colors but it still looks good. I'll post a pic later to show how it turned out.

Lights on...

Someone do me a favor and tell me if your needle sits on the 10 mph marker or below it like mine is in the pic...I have my ignition in the "OFF" position...

Thanx in advance...
